Hi Pret.
The Alesis cymbal jack might (?) have an (intentional) short from the ring to gnd. So a trs cable could still  behave like a TS cable. The DrumIt always senses a short to gnd of the ring as a choke. Maybe try to use a trs to 2 ts Y cable splitter. TRS to DrumIt. Tip TS to cymbal. Leave the ring TS unconnected or cut it.
Cheers, Deve.

" WHY OH WHY DIDNT I DO THIS YEARS AGO."

Good to hear my module development, like 8 years ago, still makes people happy :-)

Hi. To be able to pitch up sounds at playback (max tune value on KIT-DRUM page), the sounds are encoded with a matching lower sample rate when encoded. Thus if no need for tuning up sounds on playback, keep the max pitch low when encoding.
The line outs have 150 Ohm out impedance. Should be fine for any line input.
To check DAC quality, rip a cd track to 44.1 kHz 16 bit wav file and play back as accompaniment.
Should sound the same as cd played over same amp / speaker / phones combo.

Hi.
For best sound quality, convert the vst samples with as low pitch change range as needed.
Furthermore, the hp out has a series resistor to even out the differences in impedance.
This might affect the headphones frequency response. Not ideal, I know.
Use line out to compare original vst sound with downloaded sound.
Cheers,
Deve.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: Hi hat calibration
June 07, 2017, 08:54:30 PM
Hi. I left 2box beg 2012, so I don't know what (if) any changes were made to the hihat board.
The hihat input on the module at least should not affect the hihat board at power up / down.
Also, it is short circuit safe.
Best, Deve.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: Hi hat calibration

Hi. The hall sensor has indeed 3.5V max recommended supply voltage, abs max 8V.
The hihat input has when unloaded 4.1V, with hihat 3.85V. (It's a current sensing input.)
But the hihat board has a series diode, so the chip supply never gets over 3.5V.

Hi. Did you read my reply in "recommended cables"?
So you should be able to see the DrumIt as a drive on your PC.
Then drag'n'drop the unzipped dsnd files from your PC to the DrumIt drive or any sub-folder.
Restart the module. Press KIT and then PAGE-DN.
On the DRUM page you can find the new sounds in the folders you downloaded them.

That's really as step-by- step as it gets.
Good luck.

Ps. if you use the PC editor, you need to have the module connected by USB.
Then in the editor, browse to the DrumIt drive, choose the DrumIt.dkit file and then you can edit all kits.
Do not choose the DrumIt.dkit file on your PC, because it will not link to the sound files on the module.

Hi. Hold top left button above display down, power on. Connect USB cable to PC. DrumIt appears as external drive. Drag and drop sound files to any folder you like. Disconnect USB cable. Restart DrumIt. Choose the downloaded sound on  the Kit-Drum page.
That should work.

" hey , mr LOPER ... any info about price and availability ..? "

Sorry, I am not involved anymore since 2012.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Re: EQ
March 04, 2017, 08:19:27 PM
Hi Andy.
The eq is per kit. The routing can be selected on the Kit-Eq page, being on the entire Mix or Sub(mix) or on the Drum channels only. Which drum channel is then affected can be chosen on the Kit-Vol page with the EQ parameter On + or Off -.
Then the respective Mix or Sub(mix) can be selected to go to Out1-2 or Phones on the Unit-Output page.
Best,
Deve.

Get your tools out and drill / mill a slot like this. The rubbery thing is to "extend" the card since it normally sits all the way inside. Ps. not my mod, I think from someone on this forum.

#132
Hi. Just as info, an extender will always make the signal transitions worse. Very likely outside the sd card specification. So certain cards may work anyway, others most of the time, some hardly. No guarantees at all. Best is having the card in the pcb slot, so a cutout in the metal housing is best.

Hi. Just a lttle info. The frequency response of the module is flat. Only the headphone out might color the sound depending on the load impedance. This is because it has a series resistor to match different impedances for the same power. However, headphones do present varying impedance at different frequencies, and can thus color the sound.
So try with a single layer sine wave dsnd at say 50, 500, 5k and check the level on the line outs when triggering it with the front panel button. They should be equal. Or even simpler, download a wav file ripped straight from a cd and play it on the module as accompaniment. It should sound the same.
Best, Deve.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: 2box outs

Hi. I might add that it's not 5 Volt but a 40 mA current source with a max voltage of -14 Volt if left open or a load more than 350 Ohm. It's from the negative supply because then it does not "melt" the hihat pad (if plugged in by mistake) which is supplied with 3.85 V and has a protection diode in series. But hanging a piezo on there is not recommended.
God jul. Deve.
