Ken.. Just a terminology problem at my end. Tip and Ring I mean. There is no sound on the ring
Ah, ok. I do not have a module to test myself so just theory based on what is described in the manual. I would think based on the input descriptions that a dual zone configuration should work fine on any snare/tom/cymb input. How is your sound file configured? Cymbal sound files will have a different configuration than snare/tom so try using a snare/tom configuration using just the head & rim. Also, the manual describes this setup in detail using the snare/tom inputs along with perc 1-5 to provide for more single zone pads, which seems to match what you are trying to do? Hope this helps a little!

Cheers!

I spilt the tip off the one pad, and the sleeve off to another. The tip has a sound, the sleeve does not..
I believe your problem is that the sleeve is the ground. With a stereo cable you should be using tip to one pad and ring to the other to have separate sounds.

Other e-drum systems / Re: Review: Aquarian OnHead

Hi Krillo! Is this the single or dual zone? IIRC onHead is the original single zone? If so what is your rim trigger? And with the dd3 this would be separate mono inputs to the module, correct?

Cheers!

The DDrum Legacy / Re: ddrum4edit sound file editing tool
November 29, 2021, 11:16:03 AM
Greetings ddrummers!

ddrum4edit v1.00.27 is now available!

Highlights;
ddrum4edit now includes full support for the ddrum4 high compression format when creating sound files with user samples (see Cue Markers).

Other updates;

  • Refactored WAVE encoding and extracts. Encoding now matches dd4 dumps exactly. Extract now matches ddrum4wav output at full gain.
  • Re-sampling now supports all sample rates up to 44100hz when encoding user samples and will auto-adjust as required.
  • Added Cue Markers support for dynamic resampling of the input wave stream (for compression greater than 2:1).
  • Bug fixes.

Cheers! and Enjoy!

It's a shame that Jobeky and Diamond don't make cymbals without holes anymore.

Another option to consider  is Laurin (https://www.laurindrums.com).

Hallo zusammen,

Hello, everyone,

I haven't been here in a long time. I bought an ATV xd3 module for home and wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with the part. You can't adjust a lot, but at first glance the part works really well.

Who are the current active  moderators for this forum?

Guess that would be me  :)

Jman was the only active moderator when he passed. I was having trouble with un-approved posts some months ago and contacted the site owner to ask if he needed some help with the forum. Following that discussion my account was bumped to moderator and admin. I try to check in daily and keep a lookout for reported posts and and obvious spam.

Cheers!

@violaole, I also left you a message on the un-official ddrum forum, but I have a 1.3 eprom that I would be happy to send to you if you want to rule that out as a possibility.

Cheers!

The Nord stuff is awesome for sure! (fun fact that you had a hand in it!) And we can only image what that ddrum5 would have been  :)

Stumbled on this bit of trivia from an archived interview with Hans Nordelius from Clavia (translated from German, no date). If you've ever wondered; "why was ddrum sold off?", this seems to  explain it...

"Yes, the ddrums were actually just a transitional phase for me. To be honest, I don't particularly like electronic drum sounds, and I did that even with our own. Somehow something like that always sounds synthetic despite good samples. I started to focus on the keyboard business, the ddrums started to get bored of me and gradually disappeared completely from my head. It was good to slowly let this project fade out."

Greetings All!

ddrum4edit v1.00.24 is now available. Read the details here; https://unofficially-ddrum.proboards.com/post/1973/thread.

This version includes two new features;

1) Support for using native ddrum3 sound files as source input.
2) On-the-fly re-sampling of the source wave content during sound file creation when using AIFF, RIFF, and ddrum3 files.

Cheers and Enjoy!

Yes, I was referring to the 1st gen dd4 cast precision pads with the reflector plate. I have no experience with the later mesh pads but seems positioning was sacrificed for silence.

It's that wonderful analogue triggering that helps keep the latency around 2ms (and under 2ms for the dd3)  :)

I remember being very impressed with the position and pressure sensing on the ddrum4 and 3... but in real world playing, hardly ever using it. I don't think it's achievable with Mesh head triggering though, it depended on having a piezo on a plate under mylar head with a foam cushion between the plate and the head.

I've done testing between mylar and mesh heads on the ddrum4 cast pads and there is no distinguishable difference in positional accuracy. I do find it odd that positioning is so often dismissed as not having much value! Cymbal swishes and press roles are not realistically possible without decent position and velocity sensing. So I suppose it depends on your playing style  :)

Cheers!

This works great thanks!  My ddrum3 samples convert also

Nice!

IIRC you need to import the dd3 file into an audio editor (like Audacity) as raw, 16bit, Big Endian and then save as a wave file? There are many cool dd3 samples so I was considering adding the ability to read these directly as well without the preliminary conversion requirement.

Cheers!
