General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Cables for 2A and 2B
September 28, 2022, 12:28:47 AM
I just made new cables for my whole kit.  A 2box Drumit 3 kit

For the ride I used 2 stereo plus and appropriate cable.

When I plug them in I get just the ball sound all over the ride..

I figure then one of the cables needs to be mono? That right?

If I run a stereo plug in CYMB 1A and run a cable and spilt it to 2 different pads, how to do I hear one layer on one pad and the another layer on the other pad? Is this possible?

I made a new .dsdn instrument with a range of wav files that say the numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 , 12 and 14.

Then used that to test the open positions on my controller. No wonder it sounds like closed or open with nothing in between.. How to I calibrate this?

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Odd snare problem on one kit
September 15, 2021, 08:14:09 AM
On my Drumit3 module I have it set up for my current band with one kit for each song.

Kit 51 is one of our songs. On that kit the the snare drum rim sounds like a hit on an open hi hat.. No, this not a wiring or crosstalk issue.

On that one kit, no matter what snare I put there, the rim sounds like a hi hat.

I have made a video on YouTube to show what I am talking about. You can see on the video other kits do not have this problem. Just kit 51.

Note, the little pads I have added to my snare are attached the rim sound. These I use for cross stick playing.

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Setting Rim Sounds
June 28, 2021, 11:55:51 PM
All the rims on my kit (bar the snare) of wired up to more useful pads

Tom 1 rim goes to a crash
Tom 2 rim goes to the splash
Tom 3 rim goes to a small pad
Tom 4 rim goes to a 10" A2E drum I converted.

In the Drumit 3 I can hit any of the pads to set it's parameters, like the sound it plays, etc..

For example if I the crash attached to Tom 1, the D3 shows me the Tom 1 Rim and it is set to a crash sound.

Toms 1, 3 and 4 work

Tom 2 rim does not.

I can use Dkit Manager to assign a sound to the rim of Tom 2, but I cannot hit the little splash and have the D3 select it. The splash works. The wiring is correct. Dkit Manager can set the value, but the D3 cannot.

Is there some setting that allows this that may not be set on Tom 2?

Cheers.

I have tom 1 split so the rim runs up to a crash cymbal.

If I use the D3 to pick a different crash for that rim, it also sets tom 1 to that crash sound.

In Dkit manager, I can set the rim to whatever sound I like.

Is this a short coming of the D3 that Dkit Manager addresses? Or am I doing it wrong?

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Odd delay problem
March 09, 2021, 03:14:03 AM
If I play quarter notes on the bass drum and snare, all is well.

If I add the ride cymbal to it, it is usually ok.

If I had the hats on the same beat, every turns the rubbish.. Snare hit come a split second late, the ride may come a bit late or not sound at all.

Surely the Drumit3 has at least 4 note polyphony. What would cause this..

I have noticed this before while playing, on the times were everything comes down together (like ALL the time). A snare hit will come after the beat. I have isolated the issue now..

When on a kit i can press the down arrow once to get to a page where I can adjust the volume of the selected instrument.

If i then press the kit button to back to the first page there is Save? option at the top. I hit the button up there and this kits is saved.

But the top row now said Save     Favo

If I turn the dial it changed to Move Copy  Swap

I don't want any of those things.. I just want to get in adjust the volume and get out. And then change kits again.. But I can't change kits as turning the dial it like it wants a selection of where to Move, Copy or Swap the kit.

How do I get back to just selecting kits with the dial?

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Metronome not working
February 09, 2021, 03:41:45 AM
The metronome on my D3 module use to work.. Now it doesn't.. I don't know why.

On any kit I can use the page arrows to get to the ACMP page.. I can set Metronome or Wav. I select Metronome. I see the time signature, I can adjust the level. But I hit PLAY and there is not sound. I hit STOP then play again. No Sound.

Could this be a routing issue? I can't see how. I have outputs 1, 2, 3, 4 and Heaphones routed out.

What else is there? Why doesn't the metronome work?

A few years ago when I got my Drumit3 the late great Jman sold me 32gb upgrade for my Drumit3 module.

The gotcha with that upgrade was that I could no longer plug my module into my PC to edit the SD card. I have to remove the SD card to work on it and them put it back.

Well, a couple had years have gone by and I am just wondering if this issue has be resolved? Has there been a patch or software upgrade to allow the D3 to connect to PC with the 32gb mod? If not, is this possible?

Sharing drum sounds - wav / aiff / rex / Ride and Hi hat
September 17, 2020, 10:45:24 AM
Note: I had a problem before not getting a new instrument to work in the Dkit software. Alas, this as a PICNIC....

Problem In Chair, Not In Computer..

I had the wrong dKit file open..

Anyway, here are the two .dsdn files i have created from my Zildjian K Dark ride 21" and my Sabian 14" Rock hats Edge only sample for a one zone pad or something.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18K11tVNtXanSpmEpVRdYFCfli-cH0Ufh?usp=sharing

I'll do the ride again some day soon with more layers. It works pretty good now anyway..

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Snare rim shots
January 22, 2020, 09:11:39 AM
If I pick say the Simon Phillips kit on the D3 that is in position 5 on the module, for example. . .

If i hit the snare I get the snare sound.

If i hit the rim of the snare, I get a rim shot sound.

If i hit them both with one hit, they both sound.. BUT

They are out of sync. It sounds like a flam. This kit is one of many in the module that have the same issue.

I figure I must have the wrong module setting for the snare. I don't want both sounds, especially as they are so badly recorded (out of time). What am i missing here?

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Ride issue
January 15, 2020, 03:17:32 AM
My ride ATV ride cymbal works perfectly, as long as I don't play the snare drum..

Might happen with other drums too.. But that it moot point. This is a show stopper.

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / 4 crash cymbals?
December 28, 2019, 04:20:48 AM
It is possible with the D3 to run CYMB1A as two separate crash cymbals? It's a stereo plug and it has 2 different sounds coming out of them in some cases.

I made a spliter cable and tried two 1 zone cymbals. One did not make any sound at all. The other sounded like it was choaked the moment I hit it.

Seems it's not possible with CYMB1A.

Would it be possible with addition of CYMB1B?  My 2 zone Alesis cymbals only use CYMB1A currently so I don't know what CYMB1B is for.

How can I run 4 single zone crash cymbals on the D3?

Setup guides and tips / Sampling a ride cymbal?
December 11, 2019, 03:56:21 AM
I have a beautiful old Zildjian K 20" dark ride cymbal that did 100s of shows with me in the  90s and 00s.

I would like to sample this ride to use with my D3 module.. If I am going to do this I want to do it right..

I watch this excellent video from 2Box that shows how simple it is to sample a snare at a bunch of different velocities and turn in into a file used by the D3.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk3ib6fEH7s

Now there is big difference between a snare and a ride.. One hit on the ride might last 20 seconds +++.

The bell, bow and edge each need a range of different velocity hits.

Needless to say, this would end up a very very large instrument file.

Some compromise would need to be made. My question is, where? How much? I guess this is a art in itself.. Are there any guides on how to sample cymbals?

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / ATV 18" ride issue
December 08, 2019, 05:07:39 AM
Hi

I recently got a new ATV 18" ride to go with my Drumit 3 module.

But default the ride cymbal sounds are on Cym 2, 'a' and 'b'.

At least that it what I thought.

This cymbal as 2 outputs.. They are labeled Edge and Cup.

If I plug Edge into Cym2 A, I get a nice ride sound.

If I plug Cup into Cym2 B, The whole ride thinks it is a Hi Hat!!! An setting I made to that ride at that time effect the hi hat settings.

What is going on?? Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks.
