I have a drumit 5 MK2. Had some issues with my hihat, so decided to re-calibrate it. The screw on the back does nothing now? I've never had this problem until today.

I turn the screw and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Thanks, gabo

Are your ddrum pads the red ones? Or are they the silver cast aluminum pads?  Since you say the transducer is in the middle of the pad, I'm assuming they are the red and black ddrum pads.

I have the cast aluminum pads set up on my MK2, they work ok. But the original foam surround on the pads was dry rotted, so I replaced it. But I think what I replaced it with was too stiff and possibly the wrong type of foam. So they work ok, but aren't as sensitive as I would like. I need to find some better foam for that purpose.

I haven't tried the red and black pads, but I do have some of those. I could throw one up on my kit just to test. I'm sure they would work ok since the other pads work. I think both pads have the same type of transducer and output.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: drumit 5 MK2 + ATV EXS-5

Thanks for that, I think it will all work ok.

Got sidetracked for the holidays, but will get back to this after New Years.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / drumit 5 MK2 + ATV EXS-5

I have an opportunity to pick up an ATV EXS-5 kit for a good price.

Anyone have any experience making it all work with the MK2?

I know nothing about the ATV products, so completely ignorant as to how good it might work.

Thanks halftime, even the triggerball beater that is referenced in that thread might be enough.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / 2box Orange Bass Drum Trigger
April 21, 2021, 06:24:35 PM
Picked up a used 2box Orange Bass Drum Trigger. Seems to work well, but the hard rubber surface is quite loud.

I can change beaters or possibly put something on the rubber pad, like maybe a bass drum patch like you use on acoustic bass drums.

Anyone have any clever ways to make one of these not so loud?

I agree with Karbonfaiba, and that was a great answer.

To me, the value of the 2box is to get the best of triggering without the hassles and issues with a computer, latency, and VSTs.

What is triggering? You use your module and pads to trigger sounds from a computer.

What is 2box? You take the sounds from your computer and install them onto the 2box module and use that.

Sure you can trigger the sounds with the 2box, but that seems to miss the point.

That being said, the latency and performance of the 2box module is very good, so using it to trigger works well. Better than the edrumin? I don't know as I've never used one. But I have used a ddrum4, which is possibly the gold standard for triggering. The 2box is just a tad below the ddrum4, but not really enough to notice in my opinion.

So who owns a speedlight kit? What do you think of it?

Drumit 5 MKII owner here. I've seen on here and a few other places that it's the "access time" that affects whether a card works or not and that access time goes up with larger cards. And maybe even that faster access time produces lower latency?

I've never seen access time listed as a spec, must not be that important for general PC use. And I don't know of a testing program that gives you access time.

In searching the internet, I found an article from tom's hardware where they tested access time of various cards. But the article was old and most, if not all, of the cards are no longer made.

So one quick question, do 16G cards consistently have faster access time than 32G cards? I know everyone wants more space and there is a push to use 64G cards, but for me, I generally have one or two kits I use for a live show. I could easily get all the kits I need for most circumstances onto a 16G card.

So if a 16G card has lower latency than a 32G card, maybe I should try to find the fastest 16G card and use that?

I think that's a great idea! Yes, you should buy a drumit 5.

But then again I might be a bit biased, so take that for what it's worth.

I have triggered computer samples in the past. For me it was always more work than I wanted to do. You essentially need a dedicated laptop to do the job and not mess with it. Even then, updates and other maintenance tasks some times changed things and created problems.

Having said that, doing it with a drumit 5 has a different set of issues. You'll need SDSE to export your SD3 kits. And you may have to tweak it a number of times to get it like you want it.

The big difference being that once you have satisfactory kits in your drumit, it's all good from there. Just turn it on and select the kit and you're off to the races.

Good luck! gabo

Yea, hopefully it gets some activity back.

I have a drumit5 MK2 and use SDSE and addictive drums. Also have a few custom recorded kits as I also have many acoustics and do a fair amount of studio work.

Having access to all the experts here is a great value for me. So hopefully it stays alive!

Another reason might be the same as the problem I had.

I was a long time user here, even still have posts in the ddrum4 section. But, maybe during one of the crashes/problems, apparently my account got screwed up. I could not log in, could not get it to send me a password/account update email. When I tried to create a new userid, it would never send an email. I'm actually the admin of the email server, not only was the email not in the spam folders, but my server actually never got an email.

Today, I finally decided that I wanted an account here, went and set up a gmail account and then added another new account and finally got in.

Not too many people would go to that trouble to get logged in, they would just move on. Which is what I did for quite a while, even though I still came here once in a while to read messages as a non-user.
