Hi!

Sorry to hear about your challenges- and it is all about finding the perfect triggering!

First, you are completely right about the foot chick sens...I am always setting it to -6, neg 2...I fully agree on that it is too hot otherwise! It has been like this forever...and I realized this when inventing the first Zourman hh conversation module for Five MKI. (When the universal trigger System did not exist )

I am occasionally connect my Vh11 hh to my Three and lately Five MKII using my hh conversation module (so I run the hh in 2box hh mode)....I don’t know why...but a big smile occurs every time. (say no more...) I have also a pot to cool down the signal slightly on my box for the hh pad.

I have been using both my own triggers and external triggers from Roland [RT-10# and RT-30] and they works great on 2box modules.

Looking for settings to many Roland gears...check the support document for DrumIt Three at the 2box site...here you have pdf links to a couple of configs.

The 2box hihat (both the old and the new hh included in the Speedlight) are in one piece  - no foot controller.

The Di5 MK2 content is on the 2Box site now.  Can anyone confirm if the new content is usable in the Di3 with the card mod?

Thanks,
Mike

You can. Just download the 5.8 GB...but keep make a backup of your current config files etc on the existing card.

Yeah, love Kit 1, the Gretsch US Maple, the VLT kit number 9, the Walnut Dry kit 12, the Cube Beech Custom kit 14, and of course the Sonor SQ1 coated kit 15 and clear kit 16, the Cube Acryl Dry kit 17, the GMS Red Sparkle kit 18, the Maple Classic kit 19 and the Studio Fusion Kit 24.

I recorded all 24 Kits in Logic and uploaded them in 3 parts to my soundcloud, you can listen to them here:
https://soundcloud.com/walkinded/sets/new-kits-2box-drumit-5-mk2

Nice done!
I can highly recommend the 15, 16 and 17 kits. :-)
There are also some variants of these kits on the 61-74 kit banks...

Please note- There are a lot of sounds and variants not mapped into kits found in the library!

Use the sunday and build your best kit!

Hi!

I am pretty sure that the FD-9 will work without my box...on MkKIi.

Please check the hset page and that the hhpos parameter is set to “off”...I would guess that it has has got a value by accident...

Right, if you record the audio output from a Td-30...with different velocity...Roland will not machine gun...and when the sound are finally stored in 2box...they will definitely not machine gun...

Hi!
You could quite easily create your own 2box.dsnd samples from Logic Pro X. (takes about a hour to do it...)

1. If you use the fantastic DSOUNDTool http://shortestpath.se/dsoundtool/... first, it can create a midi file with all velocities for a special note. You can select which note...and how many layers you need. (Max is 99 layers - and you can select the time between the samples)

2. This midi file can then be imported to Logic Pro X. (To a virtual sound track)

3. Then you just use a good sound from the drum section in Logic. I took the Sunset #3 snare...and to do something unique...I added some effects like a reverb + plus a chained gate.

4. Export the whole thing as one wave file (16 bit PCM, 44.1kHz) from Logic Pro X.

5. Use the DSoundTool to create the dsnd file - select - snare - pick the Zone 3 Head - and select your wavefile from Logic.
Follow the dialog...save it as *.dsnd file!

6. Ready! (You could also redo the whole thing in Logic Pro X and also add a rim sound also from the same snare...or the rest of the drums in Logic Pro X)

7. Result: https://zourman.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Drumsample_Gated2.zip - Hope Apple does not kill me for this...

Or do the editor feel the velocity by itself?

The editor sort the layers by itself....and do this quite good...

Ahh...a 2box thread which involves!!! :-)

That's a great little box, you should defo think about putting it into production, I really feel this will interest A LOT of 2box users for the 3zone snare usage as it basically adds and input (albeit through the editor) to custom sample input.

We will see about this - I have a working box...but there is always some work to get it to work good. In my example I am using three piezos (RT-10S have head/rim) and the BT-1 which also have piezo….I am converting the rim and xsticks piezos to switch signals...and the whole thing emulates a Yamaha 3 zone pad.

Hi!

A Good question!

The only way to get 3 zones using one snare input is through the Yamaha way to do it. Piezo, switch, switch trigger with a 10k resistor difference between the two switch triggers. So a 2box pad won’t do the job.

If not using the Yamaha style to do it - the only way to create 3 zone snare is by using another trigger input for the xsticks.

However...I was researching this...and created my own 3 zone implementation...and only used the snare input...look closely on this :

We will see if I launch this in the future...
