I've got a Speedlight hihat on my DI 5 Mk2 and it works nicely. Fingers crossed it's as good on your MK1 Graham.

Post gig report.

All was fine, no issues at all, drums sounded great through the PA which was 2x Cerwin Vega 15" top speakers and a single Cerwin Vega 18" sub.

Thanks for that Steve, reassuring and I've got a back up PSU.

Good to have the warning about triggers as well but hopefully stage vol will be relatively low as there'll be no acoustic drum noise and they'll be able to turn amps down.

Cheers, will report back after the gig.

Well I am eventually for the first time going to play a full gig using my 2Box module with a mix of rubber pads, DIY mesh snare, Roland and Speedlight cymbals.

Just to set my mind at rest, what has people's experience been regarding reliability? I've played it for ages at home and in rehearsals over the last 18m or so without even a squeak once the original SD card had been replaced. I've got a spare duplicate SD card and a spare power supply, both tested and working!

Anything else I need to think about? I'm sure all our worst nightmares would be no sounds mid-gig!

What are your gig counts and reliability experiences? (here's hoping for encouraging answers :))

Yep I can see what you mean Steve but in reality it's nowhere near where I strike the drum so for me it's a non issue. I tend to place the head triggers on a lug screw closest to my sitting position.

Hopefully the video is self explanatory....

Happy to answer any questions

Yes sounds like the card. I got a MK2 last year and it did the same. I was sent a new card FOC and no problem since.

Thanks for the replies. It's actually been like this since I got it but I didn't think too much of it' as I don't take it out much. The spring definitely works but only gets it flush definitely not 3mm. Seems like a design oversight. I might just glue a little extension piece onto the card.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / SD card question
October 26, 2021, 05:15:52 PM
I have a fairly early DI 5 MK2 module which uses a normal SD card- from what I read it sounds like Micro SD cards are now being used?? The first card was faulty but replacement is fine as is a duplicate which I've made up.

My question is how far should the card pop out when you're taking it out? Mine does have the spring action to eject it but the card only comes out flush with the casing so I have to use a thin tool to grab it and pull it out. This doesn't feel right to me, just wondering if it should come out further?

Another shout out for Jobeky, I have their own brand Prestige 3 ply, fantastic feel, not too bouncy and great triggering with DIY side triggers.

Just an update, all I did was copy the backed up original card onto the new one and it's working fine. Apologies if I was overthinking it!

I've got a new card to use as a back up but, just so I don't dingaling it up, I would be very grateful for an easy step by step guide to copying the data correctly. I'm using my MacBook Pro with a built in card reader if that's important.

Apologies for the simple question.

Hi all, I had a bad SD card on my DI 5 mk2 which was replaced and the new one is fine. Can anyone confirm that the 'compatible cards' list also applies to the mk2?

Having said that, they all seem to be hard to find on sale.

Can I check which hihat you mean? I had the DI5 Mk1 with the DI5 hihat and was underwhelmed, felt heavy and open-close was not brill.

I've now got a DI5 Mk2 with a Speedlight hihat and absolutely love it. It's only single zone and I know welshsteve has discussed that before on here and he prefers 2 zone but I can live with it. It's a great size, lovely playing surface, feels fab and isn't orange underneath! When you're just doing a quick 'open-close' it works really well and sounds fantastic. If you're doing a slow opening it seems to have fairly abrupt transitions between a relatively small number of stages of openness and I can't really understand why this is. Anyhow, I don't use this too often. In short, well pleased.

I'll check that out Steve. Cheers.
