General 2box Drumit 5 forum / To upgrade or not????
March 21, 2023, 06:46:03 PM
Is it really necessary to upgrade from a MKI to MKII? Is the triggering THAT much better to justify purchasing a new module? My current triggering is OK (side mounted internal "WRONKA" triggers) but when I watch videos of the comparable market module offerings, I see my limitations.
I've always had a bit of a problem with the processing in the module (the sound of converted dsnds sound a bit thinner and compressed compared to the original waves but I understand that has not been updated). I'm not sure if I should wait until NAMM to see if there is anything new.
I value your opinions.
Many thanks.

I assume that using 3 triggers on a snare drum would be more consistent in triggering,
but will it also make the drum to be more sensitive to ghost notes?
Does anyone have an opinion/experience with the concept?
I see some companies offering this as an alternative but is it really worth exploring?
Just a thought.

Can anyone update the community as to (or if) we have a presence there?

From the DrumIt3 page on the 2box website:
"Another 50 KITs were custom-programmed to match various songs/artist. These KITs are created by 2box and reflect our taste and ideas. Feel free to edit them to fit your own style. These KITs contain typical sounds/loops/effects that you would associate with particular songs. This might be a finger snap on the rim of Tom 3, an 808 handclap on Tom 4 or a set of timbales on Tom 3 and 4 â€" but of course always play the full drum set and enjoy these KITs in total. The name of the KIT gives you an idea which song/artist we had in mind when creating the preset. There is also a Spotify Playlist link â€" these songs and artists where the inspiration when creating these Kits. Play these KITs to the songs in question and have fun!"

Are we dedicated 5 series owners going to have access to these 50 KITS?

Hi guys, I need some advice regarding an order I placed for a Roland 13" Powerply head from Andertons Music  a week and a half ago. I am located in NY, USA and have not gotten anywhere by email. They have already charged my Paypal account (to which I have filed a complaint) and incorrectly listed my address as being in the UK which I also tried to correct, and never sent me an order verification. They do not reply to my emails and I am becoming extremely frustrated.
Has anyone had any dealings with these guys?
Many thanks!

I found an issue with my setup in DKIT manager (v1.4.7) that maybe someone could check on theirs.
Going back to the original factory kit setup (Minneman Kit) that uses the Maple Toms, or any kit for that matter, all but Tom 3 respond normally. My Maple Tom 3 for some reason is very low in volume when auditioning with the kit setup button. When I check the sample in the "sounds" list it sounds normal.
It doesn't matter what kit (or kit slot) it is in, it is always a problem. I thought that I might have a corrupted sample but the Tom plays normally in the 2Box module.
Could someone please check on theirs and report back?
Many thanks!  Tony G

I'm intrigued to try Roland's new offering in head design but can't find them anywhere in the states. I see they are available in Europe but not here. Has anyone heard anything? They were supposed to be available here some time ago.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / New 2box sounds
May 04, 2016, 07:11:28 PM
In the February 2016 issue of Digital Drummer there is an article on page 44 referring to "2 complete libraries for 2box that haven't been released - one for hard rock and one with vintage sounds". Is there any further information on this project? The issue of copyright infringement is mentioned. I thought the 2box sounds from 2box were available to us without any "strings".

Not sure if this has been discussed or is the norm, but when my module starts up, and after it runs through the opening screens, I get a very loud click before it is ready to play a sound. Is this normal? ???
Thanks.

I think this may have been discussed before in some manner but all of my VST sounds, from BFD3 and SD2 etc., are not as bright and punchy as the stock sounds. Am I doing something wrong? Best way to describe it is the toms sound like acoustic toms with a cloth draped over the head (no/minimal stick attack sound). I am sending individual outs to my mixer but if I EQ for the stock sounds then the converted sounds suffer and vice versa.
The converted files sound fine (as well as the stock sounds) when I listen to them on my desktop through DKit manager but obviously the 2box is creating the variation in the EQ. Can anything be done for this? I'm thinking that maybe the solution is to compensate for this in the SDSE/Reaper conversion process.
Any thoughts?

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Simon Phillips samples
November 13, 2015, 05:26:22 AM
There was some talk a while ago hear on the board regarding Simon working with the 2box crew and there was speculation that we may see some of his work here on the 2box. Has anyone heard anything further on that? I would love to get a hold of some deep samples of his toms for my 2box. I had the Mega kit in my ddrum4 but it seemed to lack the depth of the genuine article.
Maybe there is a third party set available? I've heard about the "Loop Loft" offering but I don't think these are samples we could import.
Thanks.  Tony G

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Trigger location
April 27, 2015, 04:47:02 AM
To those who have made and/or are using acoustic drum conversions, where have you located the piezo? Near the edge as in the 2Box pads or center mounted? I currently have side mounted internal triggers since I was concerned about hitting the sensor in a center mount location but just curious as to your applications.
Thanks for your feedback.

The members of this forum already know the value this man is to our community but I wanted to take this opportunity to send a special thanks in recognition to him for all the help he has privately given me in resolving the issues I have had with my crash cymbals frustrating me by cutting out at the most inopportune time in a live set. His suggestion to change my crash cymbal type to "CyEdge" (I don't have any need for a bell sound on my crash anyway) was ingenious and has given me great joy in playing and appreciating my 2box module. I apologize if my saga has given you grief but rest assured that you are a dedicated font of knowledge and truly appreciated.

I'm looking for recommendations for the most sensitive/responsive mesh head. I'm using a 13" snare with an internal trigger and need to replace the (Hart Magnum) head. I'm intrigued by the Billy Blast heads since they have a dampening factor to the 3 plys and I'd like to go without the remo muffle that is needed to kill some of the extraneous vibrations.
Suggestions?
Thanks, Tony G

This is probably a "duh" question but, how do I eliminate the snare 'rim' icon leaving only a snare (as in the factory kits) so that I can get the a snare dsnd to play both the head and rim sound? I added a rim dsnd and now want to remove it. It currently only says <No sound> when I try to delete it.
Many thanks!

I'm considering upgrading since I'm not all that thrilled with the DSNDs that I've made with ECO and SDSE. Would there be a significant change in the sounds of my existing expansion packs if I processed them through BFD3? I'm looking for clean, realistic drum sounds (I don't really need too much processing).
Thanks!    Tony G

Quick question, I have both .bin files DrumIt124.bin and DrumIt126.bin on my module's SD cards. Should only the most recent one (126) be there or should they both live there?
Thanks!

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Kit load time
June 05, 2014, 11:19:49 PM
Has there ever been a discussion on the time it takes for a kit to load into memory after it is dialed in? I send patch changes to the 2box via a sequencing program and have noticed that it takes an eternally long time for the kits to load (on order of at least a beat @ 120bpm). This is significantly slower than a lot of other state of the art gear I am running (including my old ddrum4). I assume its because of the size of the files that need to load, but am I correct in this assumption? Any suggestions of what I can do to speed this up?
This is an annoyance for me and I'm not sure there is a solution outside of a faster processor.
Any comments?
Thanks, Tony G

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place to post this but maybe some former Ddrum4 users can't help.
I have a snare sample in my dd4 that I can't find the original sample for in my computer (it was a custom sound and not a standard clavia sample).  Is there any way, outside of resampling, to digitally retrieve that sound so I can port it over to my 2Box? I'm pretty sure it's not possible but I'm hopeful.
Many thanks!

I noticed that the max. tuning range on the dsnds that I made today with SDSE is at '0' allowing me to only downtune kit pieces in the Drumit software whereas other dsnds (from 2box for example) have the max at a much higher or full amount thus allowing me to increase the tuning of a kit piece. I am converting from BFD Eco. Is there something that needs to be set before SDSE does it's magic?
Many thanks!
