I've been following the other recent thread started by Francois, and had been working to solve the identical symptom for several months now, with no luck.  Specifically, when the wires are connected in the right way, I get a severe machine-gunning effect while the hi-hat pedal is partially depressed - fast 32nd notes that happen with no input from me, other than my stepping on the hi-hat pedal.  When completely open or closed, the stuttering effect does not occur.  I didn't want to hijack that thread, but did want to chime in.  I also appreciate the huge amount of help and troubleshooting advice provided by Anders -- super helpful, and I can't say enough good things about him.

If only the ATV HiHat, Drumit 5, and Zourman box connected, it doesn't happen.  When I add a certain other component to the system, I get the symptom, even if that other component isn't plugged into A/C power.   Today, I did some more troubleshooting, but feel only slightly closer to a solution.  I found that the Mimic can be plugged in to the mixer and into the MIDI connection as usual.  I can also include an electric guitar into the mixer.  No surprise, since it's a standalone device that doesn't require external power.  I can also connect my electric piano into the mixer with no trouble.  This is unexpected, as I believed the A/C power mains are playing a role here.

However, when I connected the eDRUMin MIDI connection to the system, I got the noise.  This was quickly resolved by unplugging the USB connection that linked the eDRUMin to my Mac Mini.  I typically use the Mac to feed audio tracks to the mixer via a Quantum 2626 audio interface.  This device cannot be connected into the system at all.... in any way.  Even when the Q2626 is not connected to anything else (all cables disconnected, except for the single TRS cable connecting it to the Yamaha mixer, or even directly into the Drumit 5's Line In) having it connected to the Drumit causes the Hi-Hat auto machine gunning issue to occur when pressing partially on the pedal.

I don't know what else to do.  Possibly, there are different audio cables I should be using to make these connections. I don't understand why the issue would manifest itself in this way: I expect noise, static, hum, etc. but none of that is happening.  It is only this one symptom that causes the Hi-Hat to behave weirdly.  I just hate that what appears a simple connections issue has kicked my butt for this long.  It's frankly as bad as my many failed attempts to accurately transcribe the intro to The Spirit of Radio.  I thought I knew how to play it for years.  Now, I just can't... this is the same level of mental-block frustration.  Maybe I should lay off the Brawndo.   ;)

I love my original Drumit 5, just as I loved my ddrum 4.  But the hi-hat has always been the thing that breaks my flow, and the feeling of playing a musical instrument.  With the MKII or other new hardware/software, is there a solution that helps the hi-hat function excellently?  Mimic, eDRUMin, and - from what I hear - Roland have implemented very playable hi-hats.  I just can't get there on the 2Box, even using the magnetic trigger add-on boxes.  I have two different such boxes; can't remember if I bought from Jerry L. or someone else.  Better, but not excellent.

My ideal setup is to trigger the 2Box via MIDI from my eDRUMin.  However, 2Box doesn't respond to CC4 messages coming from eDRUMin. So, no open/close.  The Drumit manual reads as though CC4 is sent from 2Box, but not received.  Is that correct, and if so, would it be difficult to enable send/receive on CC4, possibly as an OS update?

I could also live with installing another pad/foot pedal to control the 2Box open/close hi-hat, if there's one that's known to work very well.  I searched documentation and other posts.  Many of them were somewhat old, so I hope it's not a problem that I'm asking again.  Thanks for any suggestions - even if it's just a pointer on a better search term that would turn up the info!
