General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Help: New snare wannted
September 27, 2021, 04:30:01 PM
Hello, it's been a while, since I bought a last drum pad and now it's time for a new snare.
My youngest son goes to music school, and it's his first year on battery and he is aloved to practice on e-kit.
My old 2box snare has broken rims, so I don't have rim sound. On tom also, but that is not critical from point of learning some basic stuff and notes on battery, but I will also change them with 10"ATV pancake toms.
I'm looking for old Yamaha TP 120sn, ATV 13 "snare(pancake, not real one), or maybe some Roland snare pad.
I'm leaning more towards ATV. I think I will get the most from that dual zone pad for 160eur.
But I also  know, that I would easily have good  3zone snare, if I buy Yamaha. Even cheaper, but it's older rubber pad. Really don't know. :o

I don't wanna be rude, but it was already answered many
times and here you even didn't mention anything about your module. Is it old drum it5, mk2, drumit3? Cymbal pad? Hihat, crash, ride?
Try Google with: 2box compatibility, or something like that.

i was really surprised when i put original card in drumit 3 card slot. Even if i didnt notice lag with samples made from ssd5.5, ad2, sd2, ez2, before i can feel it now. The sound is there, on the spot, with every hit and I must say it wins in playability, compared to better sounding VST samples.

I would never buy 2box kit again. Just module and atv drums. Hardware from 2box is just not durable enough. Im talking about original orange kit. The new one, is also same cheap set, like Medelli.

i have this "delay" just when playing with songs, or metronome from module.

of course i have all products registered. In xln installer in AD2 section i can see just ad2 adpaks. For ad1 adpaks i was forced to install also ad1 engine, so i can see retro, funk and reeel machines, just in ad1 section in xln instaler.

im sure that i dont have funk, retro and reel machines in ad2 library, but must have also ad1 engine to use them. Or am i missing something?
#8
Nobody uses AD1 and also AD2?
I guess i wasnt clear enough. :)
I have ad packs for ad1(retro, funk, reel machines) and SDSE samples, sounds very dull, flat, thin, compared to newer adpacks for ad2(pop, heavy united, fairfax...)
Those ad1 adpaks are also available for new engine, but must buy them again.
Is sound quality of those adpaks the same?
funk ad1 vs funk ad2? What is the difference?

Well i dont know if there are any common issues. Im using it with drumit3, so no zourman box is needed.
Compared to original pad, vh11 is quieter, softer and have more rebound. I dont have any hot spots on playable area.
in general, i think my playing improved with vh11. But that semi open sound is killing me. Like i said before, its realy hard to lock hihat(with foot pedal) in position for consistent semi open sound. I have tama tilt hihat stand.
Not much help, but anyway....

i dont know about cy5, because i have vh11 since may. It plays smoother, compared to original hihat, but i have same problem as you. When playing half open hats, sound is changing from closed, to semi open.... Its hard to find that sweet spot with foot, but its even harder to "lock" that position. Same problem with original hihat.

i have ad1 with retro, funk and reel machines adpaks and i also have ad2 with pop, heavy united and fairfax1 adpaks. All new samples are deeper sounding while ad1 sound is thin compared with ad2.
At that time i realy liked funk, but now, not much. Is there any difference with older adpaks if played in ad2 engine?

Is there any difference if you putt just one kit on sd card?

i have vh11 now. For me its much better, than stock 2box mk1 hihat. I like the rebound of vh11 and its much quieter i think. But with both of them, i have hard times when playing with just a little bit open hats. Its hard to keep my foot so precise in that position. Any solution?

i didn't intend to do card mod on my new drumit3 module. But as it was said, the usb1 is soooooooo slow and that forced me to to card mod.
And its even easier for me to work with sd card instead of module. Dont need to unplug all pads, etc.
