Heh, no worries. To be honest it's getting on for 20 years since I studied any of that electromology nonsense so it's all a bunch of white noise to my ears. All I know is, if it's got a plug, I can probably blow it up :D

By the way, it might be worth editing your original post just in case someone stops reading half way through the thread, thinking they've found the answer to their troubles :)

Colin

Nice one Colin :)

In this day and age of litigation, could I just point out that if any of you follow any advice on this forum, (especially involving electricity!) you accept full responsibility for your own actions! The Unofficial 2box Forum cannot be held responsible for any advice or opinions offered by its users, so please use your common sense and don't hurt yourself, your edrums, or any innocent bystanders.

At least, don't blame us if you do :D

I think I might have to sticky this post just in case :)

Im not doing advertise to alesis dm10, im just keep the information about it flowing.

Good man, I think it's worth keeping things objective :) And any competition for Roland is a good thing.

If the Alesis turns out to work well with drum samplers like Addictive or BFD then that's great. The tutorials for BFD suggest that having a seperate footpedal for the hi-hat is actually a bonus as it always resets itself to zero, but with stand-mounted controllers as soon as you move the chuck you have to recallibrate the whole thing...So there's ups and downs with every platform.

So that might be where you issue lies? Can you get hold of a MIDI cable to test?

Good thinking, before playing with too many settings, eliminate the easy stuff first.

Hi Spoenk, I've PM'd you, I can stick it up.

Nice detective work Spoenk, I'll bung Bengt an email and point him to your findings...

Maybe some sort of VMware Fusion solution will work?

Heh, spot the geek :-)

Any Mac owners want to try dual booting with Ubuntu and try it under Wine?

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook

It's a better operating system anyway :-p

Only kidding :)

Some of my best friends own Macs.

Hey Marecsek, another rockin' tune....with a remarkable demonstration of your drumming technique  ;D

By the way, sorry for monkeying with the posts - if you highlight your youtube link and hit the 'youtube' button it embeds the video straight in your post :)

Hola Roberto, una vez más la bienvenida a nuestros amigos Españoles!

Sorry if Google didn't translate that right :)

I've also heard that they're switching from metal rims to polycarbonate - it's probably a lot easier to manufacture, and I suspect a bit easier on the sticks too.

Which shows how good of a product the dd4 was.The question is though, what makes you convinced that the 2box will blow away the dd4?

It's the quality of the sounds, the current  (and promised) functionality of the brain, and the feel and triggering of the pads that have sold me. Oh and the colour scheme :)

The rest I can happily live with...and I look forward to seeing how much they'll improve things like the feel of the hi-hat through software updates.

I guess I'm lucky in that I'll be able to combine my current setup with the new kit, and create an e-monster  :animal:

If I was just starting out or switching from acoustics and had £1600 in my pocket....I think I would still go for the Drumit 5, or try and pickup a second hand DD4 SE. I want something I can treat a bit rough that will still love me in the morning :D
