Title: trigger gen16 hats
Post by: robcod on December 19, 2017, 11:52:02 PM
I just picked up some edge switches from Myrk. Before I attach I'm wondering if there is any advice on placing the switch on the bottom of the top hat or on the top of the top hat. I'm wondering what the result of a closed hat choke on the switch would be or what the result of a foot splash may do? Anyone pull this off?

Thanks in advance, I'm building again and I can't stop.

hello

You have to place the switch on top of the top cymbal ... If not , you wont have a 2 zone hihat ...
This is how 2BOX designed their HH & cymbal inputs ...

IMO , if you place it inside the HH between the 2 cymbals , you'll have the edge sound triggered as soon as you put some force on the pedal , or , no effect at all if the switch isn't pinched when closing ...

Footsplash or chick don't use the switch sensor , they are interpolated by the brain with the velocity+position of the magnet/hall sensor ... Fast closing = chick , fast closing+fast release=footsplash ...
