Title: How to connect module to powered speaker
Post by: redbull26 on March 24, 2017, 08:42:54 PM
Hi all,

My 2Box module should be arriving soon and I'm in the market for a speaker.  I'm probably gonna go with the EV ZLX-15P or something equivalent.  This speaker has 2 XLR/TRS Combo Jacks as inputs.  How do you guys go about connecting your module to a powered speaker like this?  Specifically what kind of cable do you use?

I know that the end that plugs into the 1+2 outputs on the module has to be a Dual 1/4'' TS unbalanced, but what about the other end?  Would a 1/4" Stereo TRS Male to Dual 1/4" Mono TS cable like this be sufficient?

Or would I want the end I'm plugging into the speaker to be a single male XLR instead of TRS?  Pretty confused on this one, can anyone using powered speakers recommend a preferred cable/setup?

Thanks for any help.

1 - you can use TRS to TRS jacks . The modules can handle TS or TRS plugs ...

2  - It s also possible to use TRS to maleXLR if you want to ...

But It s alse likely possible that a TS to TS jack will do the job depending of the speaker model ...

IMO , TRS to XLR is the best way , as you can expand the lenght of the cable by adding a longer XLR if needed ...

Okay thanks a bunch, I understand what I can use now.  Seems like some of the information regarding the Outputs has been removed from the newest version of the manual.

Thanks again for clearing that up.
