Title: Bought a used 2Box kit. Problems? Advice?
Post by: Stupidrumface on February 09, 2017, 03:31:51 PM
Is there something wrong with my module?

I just recently got it second hand, have a couple of issues and upgrades I need to take care of but have sorted the basics today. But just a moment ago I noticed while calibrating the floor tom that my module doesn't display rim settings when I strike that rim, similar to how everything else is displayed by the module when I strike it. The rim sound is there but not the settings. Am I mistaken in thinking some of these dual triggers are singles or do I have a bigger problem?

try to assign a different dsound to the rim and head of your floor tom ... you'll see the More button blinking when you hit the rim ...

Tip: if you lower too much the sensitivity (Curve) of the rim, then it will be very difficult to display its settings by hitting it as you'll have to hit it hard... So just push the More button at the same time as tom one, then rim setting will appear in Unit menu.

I've tried lowering the threshold of one to initiate the pop-up screen but to no avail, think I might have an issue here.

To access the Rim part of the tom push More and the Tom button. Push Unit and page down one page. That will show you what type of pad the Rim is set to in the module. Set it to Rim or XRim. Push More and the Tom Button. Push Kit and page down one page. That will show you what the instrument is set to for the Tom Rim. If you want to check to see if your problem is with the tom pad try plugging the floor tom into one of the other tom cables and input that you know is working, if you still do not trigger the tom rim the problem is with the pad. If the tom works correctly after plugging it into the other cable and input the problem is with the cable or module settings or an actual problem with the Tom input. What is the pad type set to for the tom with no rim sound?

Additionally, if it were me I would make sure the module is just like a new one as far as content. This is from an earlier post of mine:

There is a way to do a reset, but with an older module like that it may not be such a great idea, because you don't know if the previous owner deleted files. If they did, when you do a reset you will end up with ? instead of a sound on kits that have had files deleted. Before doing a factory reset I would check with the original owner to see if he has deleted or changed the sound files.

What might be a better option is to download the entire 2Box soundset here: http://www.hyperactive.de/support/2box
Delete the existing sound folders in the 2Box module and install the latest linked above.
The new OS 1.30.3 is also there to download or also at the main 2Box website. Install the new OS:
http://www.2box.se/World/pages/downloads/

If you replace everything in the module like that you will be starting with a module that is setup just like the new ones.

As I say though check with the original owner to see, he may have the latest installed already.

There are also new additional sounds, kits, etc. available for download at the 2Box website:
http://www.2box.se/World/pages/downloads/
And the latest user manual here: http://www.2box.se/download/pdf/DrumIt_Five_Manual_1_2x_eng.pdf
