Title: Hi Hat Bark/Choke not working
Post by: zobeltek on August 23, 2016, 06:13:46 PM
Hi everyone.  Scott here in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.  I've used ddrum units for a few decades now...still am.  This is my first 2box unit.  I must be doing something wrong.  Please point me in the right direction if anyone has ideas.

I am using Jman Jerry's hat mod and it functions great.  Thank you Jerry for your great support thus far.   But, I have open cymbal sound still ringing out when I close the hat.  So I am not able to do hat barks or whatever they're called.  I have closed sounds functioning just fine.  It's just that if I open the hat and hit it, I can't choke it out when I close the hat.

I see all three plus signs on the options page and have tried all combinations.  Also, I have no hat sound when just operating with my foot.  I'd expect to have a closed sound.

Regards, Scott.

Hi Scott, Make sure you do the extra tip in HH calibration that I include with my instructions you downloaded. That tip is also here on the forum: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,3243.0.html
You definitely should get a foot chick or foot splash sound when playing just the pedal HH. There is also a HH Pedal sensitivity setting in the Unit HH settings in case you have not experimented with that. Another thing that you can try is replacing the Drumit.dkit in your module and after replacing it and starting up the module, calibrate your HH. Here is the factory default Drumit.dkit for the newest 2Box modules: https://files.secureserver.net/0szGaulkx3TsXh
Be sure to do a backup copy of your current Drumit.dkit from your module before replacing it. And the Drumit.dkit file MUST go to the Root of the Drumit Five module, otherwise it won't boot up.
Also Scott, Is your module running OS1.30.3? The reason I ask is the newer OS versions are improved.

Hey Jerry. I finally got around to getting in here and the random kick triggering is as bad as ever.

To the orginator of the post, Scott. Does the hi-hat work at all when pressing the pedal and you look on the 2box Hihat calibration screen. You will see if the pedal signal is ok when looking on the hi-hat icon if it is moving between closed/open mode on the screen.

Best Regards

Much thanks again for the helpful suggestions.

Ok, all good now.  Everything was working as it should except I couldn't close the hats and stop the open ringing sound.  Calibration page indicated as it should Angr77.

The fix was as suggested...more than once to me by the Jman.  I just didn't interpret properly.

When calibrating in the closed position, I raised the hat maybe 1/4" or less from seated closed position.  Then, raised the hat more than I normally would in the open position when in cal mode.  Works great.

Believe I am running software 1.30 as it's your 32G upgrade but unsure what rev.  Guess I'll have to take another look.

Now if I can just figure out how to make my old ddrum4 cymbal pads track properly when connected to the 2box.......

Curious how the kick triggering with 'VEEDGE' has improved?

Best Regards All,
Scott.

Best Regards All,

I've been communicating with him and he has one of those "intermittent" things going on. He is using his own Kick trigger, and after the last troubleshooting and switching pads, cables, etc. in an effort to determine what is causing the symptom ...... he cannot get it to false trigger any more ...... but intermittent is the hardest thing to troubleshoot because Murphy's law says it will definitely NOT misbehave when you want it to ....... LOL  ;)

Scott.
Yeah, I just looked back and you just did the card mod back in May 2016, so you are on OS1.30, no worries.
