Hi! Many "2Boxers" have done Jmans cable patch...where you get a external SD card reader which is nice and non-destructive .

But after some design thinking - I had to take it one step further...

What do you think about this?

Nice job ! Still wish that 2box update the software so we can leave the card inside the module.

There have been a few that have put a slot in the module: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,464.90.html
But I think yours is the first slot put into the back plate. Your placement seems like a simpler, less intrusive solution compared to cutting into the thick aluminum module housing.

Did you use a standard extender cable? Do you have pics of the mod from the inside?

Jman, I have not see these old post how they did it. Nice! Yes true...but the module housing is real thick...but the rear is only about 2 mm in Aluminum...so it is easier to do a nice patch here.

It is the standard extended cable which have been striped from the SD card housing.

I have a full story with specs, photos and movie, I just need to finish it up.
If dD is interested...I could send you a first draft...:-)

Nice work, Can you send me a 1st draft, I just picked up a second 2box module and would like to do the same upgrade,

It's a good idea! The only down side is the plus side really since it involves cutting the back (for people worried about warranty, compared to the completely reversible mod with the external reader), but it's a great solution for the more daring. Nice and clean!

Agree Lustar...this mod is nothing for boxes under warranty. :-)

I have no doubts to cut in my box...too old and the warranty has been gone for years!
