Hi Folks - still waiting on my backordered DI5 but having some second thoughts. I went into a local drum shop today and played a Roland 15KV and a Yamaha DTX730 and, as I was screwing around on them, I struck up a conversation with the owner. When I told him my story (need a quiet practice set to play in my basement due to 2 year old) he stated that the 2box might be a bad fit because of how loud the hi-hat was acoustically. I've been scouring Youtube and the forum for a video that might give a good idea of how loud it actually is but have come up completely empty. Anyone have any feedback or perhaps know of a video where someone is playing the DI5 acoustically without the piped in sound? TIA!
If you search the forum for threads about the 2Box Hi Hat being loud you won't find any because its just normal. .. average. You can get plenty of bad info at the local music store. I have yet to find any drum dept. employee with more than entry level knowledge of Edrums.

I agree.
Thanks gents - I would agree with you regarding the employees at most stores and realized that at the time, but it occurred to me that the only times I had actually listened to the set acoustically was at another store that was full of other drums/guitar sounds at the time. I couldn't recall anything about the volume of the pads/cymbals at that time. Momentary flip out - thanks again.
FYI - found this on youtube after much searching. Hopefully it will help anyone with a similar acoustic question down the road.
