Title: Factory reset
Post by: InTheBox on November 20, 2014, 08:08:12 PM
Just got my second hand 2BOX mk1 set up and in the process of trying it out.

The previous owner has of course tweaked the kit a bit. I'm thinking the best thing for me would be to start with a clean slate so to speak, and I'm wondering if there's a way of doing a factory reset of the unit?

Also, is there any difference between a ride and crash cymbals? The kit came with 3 cymbals and they all look the same.

Cheers

Crash or ride is in the box, not in the "cymbal" with 2Box.

You will find A lot of information on the 2Box website, including the latest OS and manual:

http://2box.se/US/pages/downloads/

Have Fun :drum2:

There is a way to do a reset, but with an older module like that it may not be such a great idea, because you don't know if the previous owner deleted files. If they did, when you do a reset you will end up with ? instead of a sound on kits that have had files deleted. Before doing a factory reset I would check with the original owner to see if he has deleted or changed the sound files.

What might be a better option is to download the entire 2Box soundset here: http://www.hyperactive.de/support/2box
Delete the existing sound folders in the 2Box module and install the latest linked above.

Then download and install the new VS 1.30 OS and VS 1.30 Unit settings from here: http://www.2box.se/US/pages/os-update/

If you replace everything in the module like that you will be starting with a module that is setup just like the new ones.

As I say though check with the original owner to see, he may have the latest installed already.

As mentioned above there are also new additional sounds, kits, etc. available for download at the 2Box website:
http://www.2box.se/World/pages/downloads/
And the latest user manual here: http://www.2box.se/download/pdf/DrumIt_Five_Manual_1_2x_eng.pdf

But in case you do decide just to reset the module (like I say a roll of the dice when you don't know the module history). Push Unit, page down till you get to the page with INIT. This is from the newest user manual:

INITï,¯ This function resets the DrumIt-Five-Module to factory default. Rotate the DATA
controller to select the part you want to reset. After selecting the desired value, press
the DATA controller â†".
There are various options available.
Unit resets all settings of the mode UNIT
Kit1 bis 100 only resets the settings of the selected KIT
KtPrg resets the order of the KITs to factory default
All resets all KITs and the order of the KITs to factory default
If you have completed the process successfully, Done appears on
the display. If NoChg appears, the system has not made any
changes.
Module Reset
To restore the factory default settings of your module, you can use the function INIT (see
above). You can also download a new DrumIt.dkit bank file from our website and overwrite
the existing file on your module with it. Please note that a complete init or loading a new
DrumIt.dkt files also corresponds to factory default sounds. If you have deleted sounds a “?”
will appear under FILE for that channel in the Kit.
Sounds can be downloaded from http://www.hyperactive.de/support/2box

Thanks Jman for your help.

I think I'll go with the full re-install of the unit. I think the previous owner must have deleted some files, because on some kits there are sometimes only one or two sounds played.

Hello !

I've recently bought a second hand 2box module and wish to restore it to factory defaults.
Actually, I *did* restore defaults, but now I miss some sounds (removed by previous owner).
(My aging TD12 keeps a copy of OEM sounds somewhere, I thought the 2box would too .. but I understand this would require a bigger inboard memory ..)

Anyways, I'm downloading the zip from the above link right now but the site says these sounds are for 1.26 firmware. Will it work fine with my module which was upgraded to 1.30 ?

Thanks !

The sound set on the site is the latest and didn't change on OS 1.30. So you're good to go.

The 1.26 Module content is still up. The full module content is now under the 1.26 firmware link: Brain Betriebssystem 1.26  http://www.hyperactive.de/sites/default/files/Downloads/2box/DrumIt126.zip

After downloading the password is still: 2box  to unzip.

Reviving an old topic...a bit of frustration...
In my used module trying to get amazed by those wonderful acoustis-like sounds as I hear in all online module demos..
However, the current kits produce sounds that somehow do not match those...

I'd like to start with fresh factory setup to dismiss any possible personal adaptations that probably did the previous owner.
As described here in the thread (and in the manual), proceeded Factory Defaults Reset procedure, going to UNIT -> PREF, enabling the SAVE and then INIT ALL. The response was NoCng which means no changes have been made.

I'm willing just to delete all the kits and any user-specific changes and reload the module with fresh factory default kit (100 kits file) and settings.
Went to 2box website to download page, cannot figure there the necessary files for download (presumably DrumIt.dkit).
Any help with that ? Did they remove it form the download page ?

Another question, how to dismiss any possible user sound-alternation setting the previous owner might have applied in the module ? Just to make sure the sound to be played the original default way..

Thanks in advance

Just to clarify
Module's OS version is 1.30.3
Boot 1.32

That's the lastest firmware. There might be some missing files as on the factory initialisation, sounds are no longer available (for various reasons)
If you send me an email, to stephenmackrill@gmail.com, I can send you any files you might be missing (I think I have them all anyway) But beware, all of them in total are too large for the module's 4gb size, unless you have sone the 32gig modification.

All the sound files are still up and the link is in my post earlier in the  thread. If you put those sounds on the module and install the current .dkit from the 2box site and latest OS files you have the latest module. This was already detailed earlier in this thread. And actually has been discussed numerous times on the forum.

Well, for future readers of this thread, so they don't get confused, as I mentioned earlier and posted earlier in the thread all the newest sounds that come installed on and OS files, etc. for the latest stock module are still at this link:
http://www.hyperactive.de/support/2box

Plus additional new sounds that do not come on the module are at the regular 2Box Site. Both sites include the new OS and Drumit Editor, but only the Hyperactive site (the link above) has all the Drumit stock module sounds.

I CANNOT stress enough the best relatively small money you will ever spend on drumit5 will be the 32gig modification which Jman here can help you out with!!  ;)
