Title: Pyramid Drum Triggers
Post by: asmwilliams on May 28, 2013, 05:43:22 PM
Has anybody given these a try?  Thoughts?

Seems almost too good to be true, $110 + shipping for a 5 piece set and you can get any sizes you want.  I just might have to jump on it even if nobody has tried them, but I thought I'd ask.  I'm just too lazy to build triggers like this myself haha!

Looks remarkably similar to the musiciannearyou triggers were reviewed in digitalDrummer. If so, they're okay, but the foam is not the best.

agreed.....In fact they look almost exactly alike. I have many of them(MNearYou) that I used because they were a bargain when I first started building drums in 2009. No most of them sit in a box except for the few I stripped the foam pyramid from and replaced it with Quartz Percussion cones. Even so...I only used these for the misc kick build when I had no other choice....the adjustable cross bar is quite sturdy...although not very bearing edge friendly for continual use on nice shells. I modified these too by grinding off the part that goes over the bearing edge and just letting the angled part keep the cross bar from sliding deeper into the shell. Then I secured this by pressure using a self tapping screw to lock the cross bar assembly  in place.

I now use Quartz percussion parts. Very consistent and reliable.
