Title: picked up the 2box!
Post by: boekhour on December 16, 2009, 03:43:10 PM
Hello everybody,

Just picked up the two boxes with orange prints on it, you guess what? Yes, the 2box ;-).

I'm so lucky to live 4km nearby a musicstore (Eiland Muziek, Arnhem, the Netherlands) which had have the first version of the 2box at a display in their showroom the past three months. They also got a couple of new kits delivered this week! And because I was the first customer who asked them about this kit (>6months ago) they were so kind to sell me their first 2box kit.

Now I'm gonne unpack, set it up, make some pictures and post them here.

I can tell you right now that the poly carbonate (or something like that?) rims are great, very sturdy and I cant see how even I would be able to break them. I experience much less talking between the rim and the snare, so I cranked up the gain and threshhold pretty damn high (which you really have to do since the poly carbonate rims seem to be less sensitive than the zinc ones). All in all, the new rims are great :D.

Hi boekhour

We just talked at the phone, but (again) congratulations with the kit. I hope to buy my second 2box soon, which I will use with my band in practice room and (perhaps) live as well. But for now: have fun with the kit.

Building the rack is easy. I've some experience with drum-racks, but with the rack-manual even a novice can do the job.

Notice the hihat holder. In the rack manual another one is displayed (same as the first showroom-batch, 3 months ago?)
The one delivered with my kit is longer, looks heavier and has an extra lower support

In the manual:

Delivered with the kit:

One little thing. The 2 screws in the little plastic bag deliverd for the mounting the computer where to long. And the manual warns not to use long screws! LOL. The circuits inside might be damaged when you use to long screws.

Or I made a mistake, I don't know, but there where only two screws in a seperate plastic bag and the computer is the only part which is mounted with 2 screws.
I solved this by using some little spacerrings and everything is even more soild now.

The front bar at the bottom you can place it in two different directions.
WHy do you choose the bow facing you?

Halfway setting up the rack I'm taking a different approach. I've played the 2box for some time in the musicstore and after a while I came to the conclusion that I still wanted to use my own hihat stand, own pedal and I wanted to mount the computer at the left side. I'm looking more to the leftside when I'm drumming. Now I can track the computer more easily  ;)

At the right beam, where the original computerunit was mounted, I created a  place for an extra tom or cymbal. My conclusion is that the rack is capable of realising mutiple configurations very easily. Great!

The hihat holder can be used with the usual hihat stands. Advantage of this is that the rack is connected with the sturdy pearl-hihat and the whole thing becomes more stable: The 2box can be operated with just a standard ordinairy hihat stand wich I think is a big plus. (I hate those floorpedals with an electronic cable to the drumcomputer like other brands do)

At the shop where I bought it, there  arrived just three 2boxes and they were all promised to known customers. And they had a waitinglist.... so whose is talking about a recession  ;D?
Damm.. I cannot play the kit because I lost my converter from mini-jack to jack for my headphone!

Maybe my shop has the most kits in the whole Benelux. 2box has to operate the machineproduction buttons.... Produce those boxes please!

Congrats man. I don't care what anyone else says, I love the colour, and it looks great on your wooden floor.

Do not fear the orange.

Embrace the orange.

Love the orange.

Played my first notes... it's amazing how the kits sounds, and haven't even tuned/configured it yet. Hihat is much better and it's a joy using it. And my neighbours didn't hear me hammering the pads.

Hi b

Have you looked at the bottom of the legs to see if the screws are already in there, and you have to unscrew them?

Thanks

nope. but I have found a bag of 5 screws wrapped up with the brackets. the brackets all ready have their screws in, so im just gonna roll with these 5, I maybe shouldn't take the manual so literally.

Cheers for your help
