hi,
i tried to connect my 2box with a midi usb cable to my pc and followed all instructions in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-9YYiYyMG4
but i don`t get any sounds or midi data. do i have to set up something in the brain module?
thanks for help!
Hi Daniel, it is of course possible to connect to Virtual Intruments but you have to use the MIDI out connection not the USB. The USB on the unit currently doesn't transmit MIDI data, only the 5-pin DIN connection does.
Hope that helps
Neil
i have this to connect the brain and the pc.

Scottie might be best answering this, but I don't know if that should work or not. I go from MIDI to MIDI, not sure about MIDI to USB.
so i finally got it... MIDI Out to MIDI In, somebody should have told me ;D
but here is another thing: how do i get Superior Drummer to know the closed/open hihat?
thanks.
This is something I have been having a lot of trouble with... a HELL of a lot of trouble with... It would help if the MIDI notes weren't an octave out on the unit to waht they actually are when triggered...

so there is no real fix at the moment?
Well when I first got my kit a few months ago, I think there was about 10 people on this forum and I couldn't really get anywhere in terms of MIDI... I messed about with the MIDI notes in the brain, then with the mapping on SD, and managed to get a set up that works for the HH.
The only way I could get you the same set up is to send you the .dkit file which holds the settings for MIDI/vol/vel etc etc... and my neil_midi preset in SD. I know this would work as I loaded a fresh .dkit into the brain and it would have took me hours to assign everything again so reverted back and it works... let me know if you wanna try this and I will send you the files... (but it would be at your own risk etc etc)
Is it true that midi to usb doesn't work with superior? Do I need a external soundcard for that?
I think Danny got it to work? but utilising the USB on the PC and MIDI out of the brain...
What about mac? Can somebody create a guide how to make it work?
hopefully over Chrimbo I'll get a chance to put together a BFD2 map which I'll post up here...The midi-learn on that is fantastic, makes assigning the kits a doddle.
As for that USB cable, presumably it comes with a Device Driver? If the cable is correctly installed I expect it'll show up as an I/O in your sequencer. Is it one of those ones when you have to install the drivers before plugging it into your PC?
The map would be awesome, I am just about to get BFD2 so that would be a great help!
USB via MIDI worked fine here, although i got me a m-audio fastrack ultra interface now.
Is it possbile to play sounds via Toontrack solo with 2 Box direct or do you have to go via Logic or some other program?

Hey guys,
I got a 2box drumit five recently and I wanted to try recording some stuff.
So, first i bought an MIDI to USB cable (M-AUDI Midisport Uno it is called) and i plugged it in the 2box computer (the two midi plugs say "TO MIDI OUT" so i plugged it in MIDI OUT, and "TO MIDI IN" in MIDI IN ;) )
I tried recording with Ableton Live and GarageBand (both on Mac) and i didn't get any signal.
Can someone help me and maybe get this to work ?
three tips:
firstly, download the free MIDI spying utility called MIDI Monitor (OS X only):
http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/
this will allow you to see what MIDI messages are being sent and received (if any).
secondly, try swapping the plugs around. MIDI plugs are often badly labelled in ambiguous ways.
thirdly, if you just want to record the MIDI messages from the module, you don't need to connect both MIDI cables, just the one that is required to get MIDI to the computer...
tried everything, the midi tool doesnt get any signal
open up Audio MIDI Setup. go to the MIDI window and see if your Uno appears there. if not you can try manaully adding it as a MIDI device.
also, did you try restarting your computer?
