Title: Australian e-drummers - Public Service Announcement - Beware!
Post by: twisted.mellow on August 30, 2012, 06:41:35 AM
Hi all you e-drummers in Australia... I'm doing a bit of Public Service Anouncement here :)

I want to warn you about a particular individual in Adelaide who is semi-regularly popping up on eBay and Gumtree selling e-drum related gear.
I don't want to publish the name (you know, internet slander stufff etc). - but I would be more than happy to share it with you if you PM me or
Facebook message me.

I now know of at least two instances where people have purchased (and paid for) drum modules, only to have them "lost" in the post. Luckily, one
individual managed to retrieve their money via Paypal disputes, and the other is still in the process.

In addition to this, I very nearly lost money to this person.

I recommend HIGHLY that before you pay ANYONE in the Adelaide area, that you find out their name and contact me before doing so. I would hate
to see yet another person burned.

Thanks all,

Ian

(I will be posting this on Facebook, the VDrums forum and the 2Box forum. If anyone can think of anywhere else that might need
to see this, please share!)

thanks twisted, i have been looking for some 2box stuff on ebay and I noticed a kit for sale on EBay in adelaide recently, but it had NIL history, and I thought that looked too dodgy. I also noticed someone doing the same thing with speakers too - again no history. Maybe the same person???

the bottom line is never buy anything big ticket from an eBay seller with zero or very little feedback, unless you can pay on pickup...

Agree with fishmonkey there for sure! Another tip - if you are buying from gumtree - another great thing to do is ask them for their eBay User ID, and go and check their feedback on there. If they can't give you one, leave it alone!

You should think carefully about who, when and where you would meet if you're travelling with a bag of cash to buy stuff too - you wouldn't want to be down a dark alleyway when you find out that instead of e-drums, the guy's got a baseball bat...or worse!
