Title: Trigger switch pedal
Post by: akum on September 23, 2012, 06:02:09 AM
Hi,

I'm looking for a pedal or foot switch that will fire a signal to trigger a sample from the 2box module.  It doesn't have to be velocity sensitive as the samples are fixed volume.  I've tried a keyboard sustain pedal (momentary) which didn't work, so I'm guessing that a non-momentary pedal would work best.  Just wondering if anybody can recommend something that will do the job.  I'm after something quite small and portable.

Any advice would be appreciated!

the momentary thing is not the issue. most of the trigger inputs are expecting a signal generated from a piezoelectric device (a piezo device generates an electrical signal when mechanical pressure is applied to it).

there is a workaround if you want to use a  switch though, as there are some cymbal trigger settings in the Drumit Five module that are designed to work with cymbals that have cup or edge switches. you will probably need to do some rewiring though, as the module expects the switch circuit to be on the ring of a TRS jack, not the tip.

This would work .... just add a drum pedal:

or a Fat Kat:

or:

Those are all piezo based kick pedal solutions. It would also be pretty simple to build a pedal/trigger. Just a jack, piezo and foam under a pedal would do it.

You can also trigger/start/stop loops in the 2Box module from any pad, not sure what you are looking for as far as sample triggering though.
