Hello was wondering if anyone tried extreme drums internal acoustic drum triggers with the 2box module? they look pretty good and they aren't center mounted, was thinking they might be a good match for the 2box module because 2box pads don't have center mounted triggers either. heres a link to the site

Hi Dr. Skins,
I use Aquarian inhead on my snare. Works great.!
It is a real head! If you go for silent you can go for onhead.
maybe its an option for you.

Reviewed in digitalDrummer - yes, it works fine with 2box
Thanks for the info the Aquarian onHEAD PED looks like it's made of rubber I Prefer the mesh heads they seem more realistic to me. I might just go with a jobeky kit then again the customs fees are outrageous, so maybe i'll buy a cheap acoustic kit on ebay then rig it with the extreme triggers. I'll have to figure out whats the better value.
Extreme are not the only triggers options. check out our reviews of internal and external triggers and you'll see there are dozens of choices from $10 to $200-plus.
You'll find all the back issues here: http://digitaldrummermag.com/BACK_ISSUES.html
be carefull to buy some 2 ply meshheads , it very important ....
extreme triggers are extremely simple to DIY ... and IMO extremely too expensive for what they are ...!
maybe if you have some time you could do them easily yourself for about 5 dollar each ( 16 times less than their price !!!) ... with the money you save , you could even buy a 2 box HIHAT and some cheap dual zone cymbals , a hihat stand and some sticks ;) ....
And if you dont want to DIY , take a look at those ... http://www.wronka-drums.de/shop/easytrigger/easytrigger/easytrigger-snare-tom.php
they cost 33 euro when an extreme trigger costs 80 dollars ... and they look much better and a lot more reliable ....
this is what a extreme dual trigger looks like ...

extremely ugly for something sold 80 bucks !!!!......and now this

for half the price , and also , they have the sensor on top of the foam , just like 2box pads ... ;)
I dont work for wronka ... and wont buy any of those because i do my own sensors , but i think they are extremely well done and well priced ....
have a nice day

what I meant by external input jack is can I plug into the trigger from the outside of the drum shell? I have a module and hat that i'm using with some roland and alexis pads just don't care for the toy sizes.
you will need some of these : http://www.thomann.de/fr/neutrik_nys_221.htm
(http://images4.thomann.de/pics/prod/247393.jpg)
and some stereo cable ... you can use a male jack plug , or simply connect the cable to the pins of the sensor's female jack ....
here you can find some nice pics , and english infos ...

here you can see they are dual triggers ...

Cool so I see they have an external jack solution but it's the same price as the trigger which brings it a little over the price of the extreme drum triggers plus the customs fees uhg lol. They do look better than the extremes though maybe I'll just cut a hole in the tom and snare bottom heads and directly plug my cables in and just have a hole in the front kick head.First I need to get a really cheap acoustic set, ddrum makes some cheap drums that I won't feel bad about drilling lol.
What about ddrum redshots? Cheap, very effective and easy to install.
hmmm but would that be an upgrade in triggering quality compared to the pads I have now?
Y0u haven't actually mentioned what you are currently using.
2 roland pd-100's 1 pd-120 as a snare and 2 12"alesis pads that have been converted to mesh with the 682 conversion and an 8"alesis kick with the same conversion.

With some trigger parameter adjustments you should be able to get pretty good performance from what you have IMO.
Do you have a good knowledge of adjusting trigger parameters? That is a critical part of using anything other than stock pads with a drum module, be it 2Box or Roland, Alesis, etc. There aren't a lot of parameters to deal with in the 2Box module. You just need to take one pad at a time and adjust things for each zone of the pad. Try Pad10 type for the 10" pads, Pad12 for the 12". Using Pos1 trigger curve for center mounted triggers is a good way to even the head response more between center and the outer head.
The PD-100 pads can easily be converted to dual zone pads if that is something you are wanting: http://vdrums.com/forum/showthread.php?56834-pd-100-Mod-and-general-question
Tom inputs can be split for adding additional pads though, so splitting the tom inputs the PD-100s are used for creates room for 2 more single zone cymbals or pads.
Thank you, the reason I wanted to upgrade to triggered acoustic drums was for the bigger sizes and the looks to get as close to an acoustic set for feel and looks.
All I can advise is to check out both the internal and external trigger reviews we've done. And one qualification - the revisions to the 2box OS mean that much of the previous incompatibility is now a non-issue and most - if not all- triggers can be tweaked in the settings. To it's really a choice between budget, aesthetics and number of zones.
Let us know how you go.
ok so I purchased a 5pc set of 1985 or 86 tama swingstars for a $125.00 from guitar center. I'm going to buy the bill blast 3ply heads for all the batter sides of the kit., but now it's a toss up between ddrum drt trigger set or a set of billy blast triggers, will the 3ply heads work well with any of these triggers?
Drt may be overkill unless you're gigging and need the spare piezo. They're all single zone except te snare. Personally, I'd go for the Pros. You would even get good results from the redshots, and maybe just get a single Pro snare trigger.
Have you tested the ddrum chrome elites yet?
No, not yet.
Hello, I opted out of the tama swingstars and recently purchased a set of pdp concept maples along with some ddrum pro triggers. I noticed on the triggers that the casing is wide open with wires exposed. Should I cover them up?, and if so whats the best way to do it? I'm waiting on a set of 3 ply billy blast heads so it's something for me to do while I wait.
