that s a really clever product .... more Roland owners are going to be able to use 2box modules without restrictions ...
it s gonna be easyer to answear to the " can i use my roland kit with the module ? " .... :)
I remember me posting here 5 years ago to ask if anything like this was existing ...:)
Just one thing , imo , the form factor is a bit too big for what's inside ... Half would still be ok i guess ...
Also the Jack plugs could be on the same side , it will be more compact , and handy if you place the box in a rack ...
The price could be also smaller ...:)
In the video you say that the hi-hat is faster ... are you sure ? i cant understand how it could be possible ....
Hi!
Thanks for the feedback!
The 42Box is another solution for a well known problem - the Hi-hat. JMan has a great solution, if you want to hang on the hall effect technology. Mine is more for customers with existing Roland gears.
I don't know regarding the form factor - you have probably seen the freight dimensions. The 42box is about 10 cm x 5 cm x 4 cm in size... think about guitar effect pedal in size.
Plugs on the same side - let me see what we can do...(Could actually be that this is the case already)
Price - You get great value!! I promise!
Faster..could be hard to prove... but I would argue that it is more exact and have a better drum-feeling compare to the 2Box standard hi-hat.

So you are the developer? On the website 42box.se there's a single review, 5 stars, which you seem to have posted. Don't you think this is somewhat strange?
Coda, I might have tested the review function...and forgot to take away the post...:-)
I think however as a drummer the product earns five stars...:-)

I've had a review sample for a few days, preparing for a review in the May digitalDrummer. For now, suffice it to say the 42box does what it claims - and does so easily and reliably.
Well done, Anders.
one question. do we have to mount a magnet underneath the foot plate? also, any ideas on a retail price?
It doesn't use the 2box HH system, so no. You just plug in the VH11 controller or FD8 (Im assuming FD7 will work too), and your cymbal.
ahhh ok thank you. that clarifies it. i thought that i could use it but i cant. i have a cy-5 and i use a regular hh stand. so this isnt for me. cheers
A great review of the 42Box hi-hat conversion kit can now be found in the may edition of digitalDRUMMER, Page 36.

What are you using for a HH controller? Jman's box or similar?
Hi all!
For not confusing e-drummers of the fantastic 2box (and trademark) with the 42Box hi-hat conversion kit, I have therefor created a complete new trademark for my hi-hat conversion kit: Zourman Drums!
At the same time when releasing this new trademark, I am also releasing some mechanical improvements of the kit, a M6 mounting point and all connectors on the same side of the box!
Some another great news is that Jobeky Drums will start to distribute Zourman Drums HH conversion kits in the UK!
Welcome to visit http://www.zourman.com
That's great. I wish you every success.

me too, good job
Hi again!
I just released a new manual for the Zourman Hi-hat conversion kit (formally 42Box) for FD-8/VH-11 with some small tweaking tips. You will get a 100% working Roland hi-hat implementation by just using the standard calibration scenario, but it is actually possible to tweak it even further to be able to reflect your play style even better. What I have seen in my tweaking tips is there seems to be a connection between the impedance on the bow sensor (which need to be cooled on Roland hi-hats with some resistance) and how easy or hard it is to create a foot chick. A too high cooler value (50k ohm) will make it very hard to create a foot chick(sample number 9) and a too low value will make the foot chick to misfire. About 20k ohm seems to be a sweet spot on my hi-hat solution. (There is a variable resistor on the HH kit)
On VH-11 there is also a mechanical way to transfer the hi-hat to be more open or closed by just routating the hi-hat pedal screw on the hi-hat top a quarter turn against open or closed. This will make the hi-hat to react in a smoother way.
There is also a nice way to adjust the samples if you think the especially hi-hat sound cuts too sharp by just adjusting the "hold" parameter on 2box DrumIT Five module.
For more HH tweaking hints....general or especially for the Zourman Hh Kit...have a look in the new manual:

Zourman Drums introduces models with Virtual Clutch functionality.
The new added virtual clutch models includes support for Roland Fd-X, VH-11 and VH-12 and 2box.
Virtual Clutch is a system where the hi-hat pedal position variable can be set in advance between open/closed. A perfect solution for drummers with double kicks who sometimes need the ability to set the hi-hat in to near closed position. A switch on the front panel will set the Zourman hi-hat module in virtual clutch mode. A potentiometer adjust the open/closed position. One feature is that the pedal will still work as usual when in virtual clutch mode...but will go from the fixed position to closed when pressing down the hi-hat pedal.

hi Anders
Very usefull option !
If i can give you an advice , it could be cool to add a jack so one can plug a simple switch pedal to activate/deactivate the V-clutch . With a led on the box to be able to see the status .
Have a nice day
Thanks EDTC!
I really like suggestions from users! Good advice! We will see what we can do! :-)
However, I am a bit afraid to add more electronics like LEDs etc on the hi-hat input because it could interfere with the hi-hat functionality. The hi-hat is a bit special how it really works from a electronic standpoint. :-)
More ideas are welcome!
Best regards

For you ones that owns a Roland VH-13 hi-hat...I have now launched a VH-13 version of the Zourman Drums Hi-hat Conversion Module for 2Box DrumIt Five.
The VH-13 impedance range actually differs quite alot from the VH-11 and VH-12 versions - so it needed some real hard testing to fine tune the electronics to make it perfect! I think I succeeded!
