Thanks Daniel, the Gen-16's are an aquired taste I suppose but I have to say I really like the sound of the hats and the ride. The crash on the other hand sounds nothing like a crash and is very thin and gongy sounding. Hopefully the new direct pickups will address this.

Most seem to be pretty satisfied with the hats(I'm still leery) but you are one of the few that I've heard say they liked the ride. Interesting.

Soundwise I also not convinced about the gen 16, for me a gen16 hihat with stealth-triggers would be more interesting...

Yep....this may very well be  their best application. 

I'm still waiting to see what  the Direct Source pickups deliver. I will say though that I don't hold out much hope for an extreme change in audio though until they advance the DCP considerably.

New pics, ditched the roland mds12x rack and added a drumtec comfort plus rack. I also added the new direct source pickups for my ziljian gen16's

Yep, 2 out of 3 already do that. Set the leds to red and it looks like Battle Star Galactica

It is a DIY-kit, using 2Box hihat, two cymbles and four Roland CY-8.
sounds are from SD2.3, Roland and 2Box (crashes and ride).

Best thing about my drumset: I don't have to think about sound - it is just playing and enjoying it.

I'm still intrigued by the lack of knowledge and expertise on drum-forum.nl, those guys have no clue about what is going on and only Roland is pushed over there. BTW, Animal has a dd4 (not in use).

Anyway, recovering from a heart attack and flu over that (very scary to have high fever with a low health / heart condition). Getting some energy back now.
