isn't the solution just to set outputs 1+2 to channels 1+2 (your kick and snare) instead of the whole mix?

actually, rereading your posts, i'm not really sure what you want. will you have 6 channels going to the main mixing desk, or just a single stereo channel?

of course if you can't do the internal routing you want, a headphone mixer would be the next solution...

there are some suggested workarounds for the kick drum double-triggering in this thread:

http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php?topic=204.0

as mentioned, it's not really faulty triggering, but the beater bouncing on the head. it's making me work on changing my technique to play the kick drum like you would any other drum (and i can use the bouncing as a special double-pedal effect!).

i'm wondering if a softer beater would help...

i don't mean to be rude, but could you guys should start a new thread about alternative cymbals and hardware, as this thread is being derailed...

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: USB 1.1
March 25, 2010, 11:48:02 AM
i'm backing up my module for the first time now, and it's so slow it hurts! i'm averaging less than 400kB/s. it's going to take over 2 hours at this rate! if the write speeds to the module are even slower (which is usually the way), then loading your own drum kits is a crippled feature.

the thing with USB is that in real world use you never even get close to the theoretical maximum, partly because of all the overhead in the protocol, which is only going to be worse if you are transferring lots of small files...

i can only guess that they went with USB 1.1 to cut costs, but i happily would have paid more to have reasonable transfer speeds.

The trigger is probably not in the middle. The rubber disc is to compensate for this.

i am not so sure about that, it seems to me that the rubber disc is meant to transfer the bell hits to center area of the metal, and at the same time isolate them from the rest of the metal surface...

what i do know is that the top of the rubber disc is supposed to be glued to the softer main rubber, and the bottom of the disc needs to be glued evenly to the metal...

i took the rubber off one of my cymbals, and the rubber disc is bonded to the main piece of rubber by some stray adhesive. the disc wasn't glued to the metal at all, i didn't even realise that it was supposed to be a separate piece...

as the previous thread about faulty cymbal triggering vanished into cyberspace, i'm starting a new one...

i whipped up this garish diagram to make it easier to explain how the triggering works on both my 14" crash/ride cymbals.

  • firstly, Zone 8 (the edge) seems to be fine, as does the choke mechanism.
  • the red areas are where Zone 3 is triggered (as you can see, most of the bell is also Zone 3, although much louder than the bow).
  • the purple areas are where Zone 1 is triggered. in the area where it triggers on the bow, it is quieter than on the bell itself.

presumably Zone 3 should only trigger on the bow, and Zone 1 only on the bell...

i have been in communication with Bengt about this issue, and i will keep this thread updated as i find out more.

is the timing between individual drum hits off, or are all the drum hits lagging by the same amount?

technically speaking, how well the passive splitter works will depend on the impedances of the headphones you are using...

given that the module appears to be a rebranded DM10, most likely those eCymbals are rebranded Surge cymbals...

well, if you need to replace the power adaptor then knowing whether it's an AC or DC output unit is important...

18V AC units aren't that easy to find in my neck of the woods...

Actually an AC input but yes 18V 9VA

of course it's AC input, the crucial thing is whether it is AC or DC output...

hi all...

the 2box site says that the power adaptor for the Drumit5 is an 18V AC, 9 VA (500mA) unit...

can anyone confirm that this is definitely an AC output unit?

thanks for that...

so once you update the boot loader you shouldn't need a 32 bit Windows machine again... that isn't so bad then...

After the official announcement that there will never be a Macversion of the bootupdate I found someone with a PC laptop running XP and was able to download and install the 1.30 Bootupdate and the 1.02 OS.

oh, that's really disappointing...

when/where was the official announcement?
