Other e-drum systems / Re: Best e-drums in 2022???

And just these last few weeks, Alesis has come-in with a really strong contender with their Strata Prime kit.

That's the thing ATM, "KIT" the module isn't available yet as an individual item. Lots of really great drum sounds, the usual bunch of percussion and "pew-pews" I am very impressed. Some triggering gripes have been mentioned. And I've spotted a couple from the demo videos.

They've put a BFG pack in there and recorded a lot of new sounds, which sound very much on par with the BFG pack.

They're gonna be bringing out an Editor at some point and releasing some expansion packs.

On top of this, great sound-stacking options per zone. 4 effects engines. 6 outs (2 main, 4 direct) and a big 10" touch screen.

Yep, Alesis have seriously upped their game.

Quote from: edcito on April 22, 2022, 11:03:40 AMAn ATV Ad5 is a good option, 4ms latency, nice sounds, compatible with many brands of pads, (not the case with efnote which has a proprietary hihat) and plays nice.

Be aware that you can't edit sounds recording or even using metronome! is not possible through the module. It's sad...

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Any way to change the sensitiv...
Last post by Sheshelj - March 31, 2024, 01:48:26 PM
I play jazz and find when i lightly hit the ride cymbal it registers some, but not all hits, or even if i play louder sometimes it sounds like it skips the hit. Also when i play other parts of the drum louder with the ride (happens with my other crash cymbal also), it sounds like their volume has been lowered even tho i play on max volume.

Now i get it, its an electric kit, i had plenty of them. But on my last ekit there was an option to change the  sensitivity to your likeing (like a volume bar), but on this one i dont seem to find it.

Is there anything i can do to improve this?

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Ride problems
Last post by Torbs - March 29, 2024, 09:05:35 PM
Hi

I am having problems with my ride. It sometimes triggers just the bell sound for no reason while playing the bow. And gets back to normal again until it triggers just the bell sound again for a few hits. Any idea what I can do about it?

TIA

Could someone tell me if the 2 Box Triggers would fit on to a Snare drum fitted with S-Hoops ?

No problem. It's kinda odd the rod on that Mk1 Hihat stand rod is that much thicker than your bog standard hihats from other brands isn't it? I mean the stand itself is not exactly heavy duty stuff and probably outsourced.

Hope you work a solution out anyways.

Best wishes.

Hey Steve, I appreciate the thought but don't worry too much about it.  I'm currently running two kits - an A2E hybrid that I use for gigs, and the original 2box rack that I keep in my practice space.  Right now I'm moving my hihat stand between both kits.  Ideally I'd just have a 2nd solution so that I'm not moving anything back and forth.  The best solution would be to just use the 2box hihat stand as I've already got it, but because of the rod diameter that's not looking to be an option.  So I'll just have to keep my eye open for either an insanely-wide hihat clutch or, more likely, a cheap 2nd hihat stand.

Thanks for your help with this!

Hmmm yeah that's a tough one. Like I mentioned, I can only think that the old pearl style MIGHT work, as they have a different approach to clamping.

I might have one lying around that I have had for YEAAAAARS, I'll go and look and will report back. ␃

Failing that, you could possibly get someone to drill out a clutch to make it larger. But it would need to be someone who knows how to drill with precision.

Hey Steve, thanks for the reply!  The problem is that the rod is too big for the clutches I've tried.  The 2box rod is thicker with a texture to help the 2box hihat grip the rod.  The universal clutches I've seen seem to fit a rod up to 8mm in width, but I'm not sure if that's wide enough.  Just thought I'd check here and see if anyone had tried their own hihat on the 2box stand before I start throwing money at the problem!

Thanks,
Scott

Going down a different path for hihat would be my recommendation.

The Zourman box with any Roland style hihat will be much better for the playing too. A friend of mine bought one with a Jobeky Brass Hihat top, and it significantly better to play on than the this hihat. I have also tried it with a VH11 and it was great.
