So, who got new music gear for Christmas?

Just thought I would start a thread in case there are any sporting new gear for the holidays. I ordered a Pearl Throne Thumper. It won't arrive for at least a couple weeks. I had been looking at the holiday sales, but hadn't decided to order one. A few days before Christmas I had to order a HH stand I use for Roland E-stand conversions (I usually stock/sell a few stands for Roland users who don't want to DIY their own stand/controller)... the cheapest deal I could find for the stand I use on the conversion was $248, but with the 15% additional discount for the holiday sales and free shipping I ended up getting both the stand and the Thumper for a very nice price.... which at least in my mind justified the little splurge .... couldn't resist.
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Good stuff J! I got my XMAS a bit early this year. PDP concept maple drum kit and some Zildjian K cymbals, you prob seen already. The ddrum external triggers work pretty darn good so far with the 2box module, so I've got a nice little acoustic hybrid kit going! :)

Yes, I saw your early Christmas shopping, nice indeed.

Meh...no music gear......but I did get some underwear...and they do produce a muffled F# now after all the turkey I ate. It's kinda like musical aroma therapy. ;)

;D Yeah, I have been playing the drums almost nil in the last year. I guess I'm hoping the Thumper might jolt my butt into playing again.  ;D

I just ordered a Bosphorus 20" turk ride and 13"turk hats to try with Gen 16 direct source pickups!

I treated myself to a new shell pack from Drum Tec. Very pleased over all although the secondary triggering on the toms is not very good. Am I doing anything wrong? If you hit the shell on the side it triggers well but on the rim itself hardly registers...Any suggestions??

Cheers

Congrats on the new shell pack. First off I would contact Drum-Tec for their advice, after all you just bought it. Start a new thread on the forum though if you like.

I didn't get anything for christmas - but the following fact makes up for it:

Aspiring guitar players all over the world ponder over Eddie van Halen guitar equipment, and how to achieve his - almost mythical, elusive - 'Brown Sound'...

Thanks to this thread, yours truly now has a very clear idea, what might be the 'secret' ingredient ....

;D

...must be too much cold, leftover turkey....!   ;)

On the lower end of the spectrum :) I got some Tuner Fish lug lockers, to keep my Jobeky snare head tension just right during humid and lively gigs! They'll get their first test drive at tomorrow's gig!  :)

I received my second 2Box module on December 23rd from Scott at Cymbalism Music. It was a Christmas gift to myself. :) I also finally ordered a full set of 2Box Cymbals: HiHat, 2 Crash Cymbals and ride but they are on backorder until late December.  I use my 2Box modules with vintage Simmons SDS9 pads which I converted to dual zone triggering for head and rim. Works like a charm when you get the module settings tweaked.

Now that's what I would call a christmas present...

...and a sensible, retro-conscious setup too!

Best of both worlds, I reckon - Enjoy!
