Hi Guys,

I am still converting my acoustic kit to electronic (piece by piece) and I am not getting the feel or  response I would like with my Demon drive Beater on my mesh kick drum head.

I am using the Pearl ones (got given them) until I can afford to upgrade the head but I am curious as to what combo of what type of beater and mesh kick heads people are using.

If I can't get the feel I need I may go back to an acoustic head and try to muffle it.

Thanks,

Nathan

I use Pearl, model before demon and upgraded the head to the double ply from 682drums.com. And secured the pad by an extra bar and modication so it does not woble anymore. Got a perfect feel now.

I use a 20" DDT dual ply head , on a DIY converted 20"x8" bass drum ... sensor is side mounted ..

I use a regular felt beater , and protected the meshead with some gaffa tape where it hits ...

If you're using the stock 2Box mesh heads, the guy I bought mine from suggested only using the 'tennis-ball' style kickdrum beater. Apparently you'll damage the mesh head if you use a regular beater.

not true. of course i use a patch in the mesh head, but i use the stock pearl eliminator beaters from the plastic side. all is well. and i hit hard

Felt is getting worn out, will try rubber and wood some day.
