BURNIN AMBITION

hi there

i recently purchases a midi pro adapter. what it does is connect edrums with xbox to pbe able to play rock band and guitar hero, with real edrums

the thing is i needed to remap the notes of toms and cymbals.
so i changed them. i remember a guy telling me here that if i change the midi notes that each tom cymbal etc, corresponds to, this will have no effect on the sound of toms cymbals etc.

strangely i noticed today that i couldnt differentiate the cymbals between bow edge etc. it was as if i had single zone ones? also toms when you made a role on them it sounded as if the notes on each tom were like you wnet down the scale. was cool. now it seems that when i make a roll, the notes on toms are not what they were supposed to be

so is it possible that when changing midi notes, you actually also change the"notes" themselves ? so if a tom corresponded to b note after the midi change, it can correspond to another note, for instance c?

also as i was again checking it, but couldnt find it, the hi hat is single zone right?

i hope i didnt mess anything up. cause the cymbals acting like single zone really freaked me up. they were working just fine before i changed the midi notes...

BURNIN AMBITION

the question i want to ask, is because a guy in another forum told me he did this thing and id like to ask if it is possible with 2box , because i think i cant do that

thios guy told me that by changing midi notes, actually the notes the pads produce, change as well so for instance a break before you remap the notes, and after, will sound different.

so what this guy was able to do, was that he chose 1 specific kit and remapped the notes in that specific kit.

i think that if we remap the notes, this happens for all the kits. is that correct?
is there a way to remap the midi notes in only one specific kit and have all the other 99 kits with the original mapping? thanx

ddrum4se

I did the same when trying to get my TD20 to trigger sounds from my ddrum4se.

I changed the midi note numbers until it triggered the ddrum sounds, and then the Roland would not work like it used to stand alone, i.e. no longer linked to the ddrum4.

I had changed the note numbers in one of the stored kits, so I looked at another kit (which I had not changed) made a note of the midi note numbers and changed back the kit I had messed around with.

Not sure if you can do this with a 2Box, but failing that there is usually some reset to factory default seetings?

BURNIN AMBITION

yes sure there is a reset. after all i have a back up of the whole memory of the brain, i can put it back together and i am fine

i really would like to know if it is possible somehow to change midi notes to only one kit of the 100. cause i havent found it yet

also id like ,if possible, a definite answer from someone who knows, to say, if by changing for example the midi note of a tom, the note it emits is different than before.
cause my ears may be defective!!!!

ps my brain is sent today for inspection so i cant do any more experiments for a week...

Not possible, sorry. When you change a midi note (menu UNIT), you change it for all the kits.

BURNIN AMBITION

sad. this would be awesome if we could do it for just one kit. i will propose it in the future

last question and if i get a definite answer i wont post in this thread again. when i change a midi the note DOES  change right?
or am i deaf? thanx

MisterE

if i understand correctly? you add a midi note to a pad and it's the same for every drumkit (no matter what sound is assigned to the pad).

From a technical point of view understandable. The drumkit is (user assignable) wave-based. It should be possible but the user should assign a midi note number to each wave file.

btw: it is possible to translate numbers. I use (at this moment a medeli kit) to play the pc version of guitar hero (with PS3 gear). I translate the notes with Bome's Midi translator. (in linux it should be possible with Mididings)
The way it's connected:
Drumkit midi out -> midisport midi to usb hub -> computer with midi translator -> midi out of computer to the midi in of the PS3 drumkit -> wireless dongle into the pc

this is correct

ps for guitar hero and rock band  i personally use midi pro adapter. 40 backs and it is fine

i have 2 problems as in the midi pro adapter i seem to have many missed notes from hi hat. probably it may be a double trigger from the vibrations of the drum kit. i saw itthe other day that the hi hat can get triggered without touching it, just by playing hard. and also the kick pad is not the best for quick kicks as it has not that good of a rebound. but i have thought a solution. when my kick pad comes back, i iwill lower the beaters and prbably will add a piece of foam just where the beaters hit so i have better rebound in the kick pad. and it should be awesome. check it out.
