New to E drums

This is my first electronic set and I'm having a horrible time getting this setup looking for a lot of help if possible.  One problem I'm having are my pads particularly the hi-hat is constantly triggering by itself and I cannot get it to stop.  I calibrated the hi-hat and it seemed to work okay but then 5 seconds later it would not recognize if it was open it thinks it's permanently closed.  The hi-hat is also very hard to activate I don't know any better but it seems I have to hit this hi-hat too hard just to get it to trigger.  I think I've change the sensitivity but It doesn't have seemed to help. Any help just to get started so I could finally play this thing would be great.

It sounds to me like the electronics in the hi hat sensor have a broken soulder connection . If you're still under warranty get in touch with the distributor. I had to replace mine straight out of the box too. Luckily the replacement came really fast.
