Double kick setup issues

well I'm loven my 2box it's much better than I even expected, have had a drum craft double pedal from the start but I just can't seem to get the right tension it's either too loose so I feel like there is no spring at all or there is to much spring and I keep double hitting. I know it's likely there is no fix but if others with double kick have any setup tips that would be great. I am just getting back into drumming to from a many year lay off.
