Hellfire EXC-1 Cymbal Module

I bought one of these units and attached it, as instructed, to a Zildjian 14" ZHT crash cymbal to use as a ride cymbal for my 2Box set. When I play the cymbal it sounds almost like a bad sizzle cymbal, "buzzing" badly after the intitial. I rechecked the cymbal to make sure the module hadn't loosened up, and it hasn't, it's on there correctly. I then experimented into the ride cymbal setup and turned the threshold down as far as it would go,18, and it helped some, but didn't get rid of all of the sizzle. I'm using one of the Swiss rides, but tried many ride cymbals, it's the same with all. I noticed if I held my hand on the cymbal and muted it, with my WHOLE hand on it, it works properly. It's as if the module is so sensitive it's triggering on every vibration after the initial hit.
Has anyone tried one of these? Is there a fix for this? Could I have gotten a bad module?
Thanks for any help offered,
Snyde

Those are made more for plastic/rubber practice type cymbals. To use a real cymbal you would need to do some significant muting to kill off the excess vibration. http://www.hellfiredrums.com/store
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Oh crap, I just went back and read it and it does say practice cymbal. I guess when I first read "practice cymbal" I was thinking, "Hmm, I've got an old Zildjian laying around that I wouldn't use to play live with. I considered it a "practice cymbal". I'll have to experiment and see if I can't get it to work properly.

BURNIN AMBITION

i did today a mod. i will post pics tomorrow and test it properly but it seems it has tremendously improved the kick pad.
i built(actually my father built) an iron bar in the shapoe of the letter T. i put it with a clamp to push the top of the kick pad towards me when i play. it has minimised the kick pad movement, thus making it so much more playable. i will post pics and more details tomorrow. should have done it ages ago
