3 problems with my brand new Drumit Five MK II

Hello everyone :)
I have just bought a brand new MKII kit from E-Drumattic but unfortunately, during the assemblage, I'm experiencing a few problems I would like to share with you here, just to know if I'm doing anything wrong or it's just a manufacturing issue as I suppose.

1) I think the 12" extra snare I bought (it would be my fourth tom) misses the wingnut in the back to tighten it: I noticed every tom got a wingnut allowing it to tighten up after it has been put on the L-rod, but not this snare.
I know it has been designed to just stand on its own snare-drum stand, but what if I need to use it as a tom just like I want to?

This is the detail:

2) I can't assemble the hi-hat stand, and I don't know if I'm missing something or if it's just a manifacturing fault with the stand itself: I assemble the clamp, then the pedal and the bottom stand, but when I need to insert the upper hi-hat stand within the lower one, there's this strange trimming which doesnt allow me to slide it into the stand properly.

These are the details:

I got one more problem, this time with the bass drum montage.

Looks like the two wing screws provided to attach the back plate under the holder are different one from each other: one works and I can tighten it into its thread, while the other doesnt.

Here is a picture of both:

The one on the right (with the fatter thread) works fine and I can screw it in properly, while the one on the left (which got a thinner thread and a loose ring) just can't.

Any opinion and/or advice would be very welcome :)

I hope to play my 2Box drumset as soon as possible, I just cant wait!

Cheers from Italy!

first, i think it was a mistake not to have the nut, but perhaps since it is used to be on a stand, thats why it is not there. imo they should supply you with one, no problem, if you contact them

about the hihat, something is wrong. if you cant put this thing in its right place, again contact the guys you bought it from. u are under warrantee dont worry

about the kick, ask them to replace this one nut. you are a bit unlucky, but mistakes happen everywhere. and 2box guys are very helpfull. once you fix these things you will be happy with your choice i guarantee you that

yes, I'm sure they're helpful guys, they always give me a constant feedback and I bet they're going to help me with this as well, I just wanted to be sure about these little manifacturing faults because I was afraid I was doing something wrong :D

thanks again, I'll update the post as soon as I have their reply

BURNIN AMBITION

one thing i thopught is that perhaps the one kick nut that is wrong size, could fit in your snare. check it!!!!

yes i agree with Burnin Ambition - contact your dealer.

However the snare does not typically come with the wing bolt, but i suspect you could get one pretty easy.

And the kick drum wing nuts should be exactly the same.

Progdrummer

I agree, wingnuts are the least of my concerns, I'm sure they're gonna send me the right ones pretty soon.

I'm much more worried about the hi-hat, because I guess they need to send me a brand new pedal stand, since it comes in one single part (the bottom stand, I mean)...

BURNIN AMBITION

well send them the photo. edrum attic are greatlads. and they read the forum now and again. they are very respected and once you tell them your problem they will surely help you. do not worry

hey, i had a similar problem with my 2box hihat stand. you can get around it by using a piece of thin flexible plastic (e.g. a piece of soft drink bottle) to push the clamp outwards when you insert the top tube.

as for the snare, the MK I kits had a (strange) system where the snare pad attached to a hex post like the toms do. however the MK II kits have a conventional free standing snare stand and the newer snare pads don't come with the clamp bolt thing, although the design is the same and a clamp bolt thing can be used.

as mentioned above, i've heard nothing but good reports about edrum attic, and if you contact them i'm sure they will sort you out.

thank you guys, I'm absolutely sure they're gonna ask me and help me as soon as possible, I just wanted to share with you these issues just to be sure I'm not wrong

thank you everyone :)

Update:

Graham from E-Drumattic has been awesome and they're gonna send me a new hi-hat stand and a new bolt for the bass drum clamp.
But I still dont understand one detail and I would like to share it with you, probably you can help me with that:

I just checked this video (from 5:20)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfJsP6t1MGk
and it looks like the two bolts stay both loose even when he tightens them (in fact he lifts the kick drum easily to attach the bass pedal just a few seconds after that)

what I need to understand is if they need to be very tight on the back plate or not: when I do that, I got one bolt (the "fatter" one) that tights perfectly into the thread, while the other bolt (the thinner one) just stays very loose and keeps on twirling even when I try to tighten it. The result is one tightened bolt and the other one very loose (and this happens before mounting the bass pedal, of course).
I just can't get if the back plate must be tightened to the back of the kick drum or not. And since I tried to swap the bolts, achieving the same result, I'm also afraid it could be a broken thread.
I dont know! :D

Hi, Progdrummer!

Quoteit looks like the two bolts stay both loose even when he tightens them

It is a fact that in that video, at precisely 5:29, the bolts aren't tightened fully. The reason for that is to enable you to put the bass drum in place. As soon as this is done, you should finish tightening both bolts securely. And yes, they should be tightened. Both of them. As you say you've swapped with the same result, mmh. The problem may not lie in the bolts after all

Finally, I'll tell you that I've had my drums for two months. And if in the beginning, I thought that the stand was a bit shabby as far as the bass drum goes, I've been proven wrong. The thing is rock solid: it hasn't budged after maybe 50 hours of playing.

Progdrummer

Thanks a lot Armageddon.

So maybe I need to change both the fat bolt (see up here my pictures, I got 2 different bolts) and the back plate of the bassdrum pad, since its thread looks compromised.
