How to reset Drumit module?

Hi,
I have managed to f**k up my Drumit Five module (yes, my fault).
I tried to install the e-nerd kit sounds and thought it would be a good idea to remove all the standard kits at the same time since I don't use them.
Apparently I seem to have removed the drumit OS aswell so now when I connect it to my computer (Mac) it doesn't show up at all.
I copied everything on to my computer so I have all the files here but how the hell can I put them back if the Drumit doesn't appear in finder?
Any hard reset trick or anything?

thanks

Lustar

Hi,
If it appears as a drive but can't be accessed you'll just need to format the card first:

Thanks, but do I get you right?
If my Drumit module doesn't appear in finder then I would need to physically remove the SD card from the module and insert it directly into an card reader?
Since the sd card isn't removable I need to open up the module and therefore violate the warranty.

Or does the card formatter in the link still find the module even though not appearing in finder?

Are you starting the module in USB mode when connecting to your computer? From the manual:
In order to start the DrumIt Five module in USB mode, simply hold down the left DATA button above the display, while powering up the unit.
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Yes, doin it the exact same way as before when it worked. But now it doesn't show up in finder at all.
Guessing it´s because I (moronically) removed the OS from the drumit module.

If your module is still under warranty you can contact the distributor and send the module back for service. They might also be able to send a replacement SD card, although I am not sure they will do that now. Years ago when there was a bad batch of cards installed in some of the earlier modules 2Box gave instructions for opening the module and replacing the card and they shipped out some new cards to people that preferred to do that instead of sending their modules in for service. We still have those instructions in a DIY thread. This page lists the 2Box Distributors: http://www.2box.se/US/pages/distributors/

Does is show up in disc utility?

Nope, then guessing I will need to open it up.
Is it a simple SD-card inside? Would I then be able to just replace it with a bigger than 4 GB card?

If you put a card inside the module that is larger than 4GB you will not be able to access it by connecting the module via USB. IE, you couldn't add or remove files, use software like Drumit Manager, or the 2Box Editor, or update the OS, etc. 4GB is the largest accessible size inside the module. If you want to increase the size of the card I would recommend doing the 32GB Card mod. You can read about what I offer here: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,1445.0.html

Thanks all for your quick response and helpful info.
Think I got all I need now and will get to work!

Ok, that did end up quite as I wanted to.

I managed to remove the SD-card and restore everything as it was before. And also added the E-nerd kits.
Only problem is it still doesn't show up as an external drive. If i stick the card directly into the computer I can access it, no problem. But if I stick into the Drumit module and connect the module to computer nothing happens.
So, I came across page 61 in the manual where it saids how to make a complete factory reset by going through the Data Controller, find INIT and then choose "All", but that gives me "NoFil" in the display which I believe means No File.

What do I lack now?

Is the file DrumitInit.dkit on your card? Also, that file as well as the Drumit.dkit and OS files need to be on the Root of the 2Box card. If they are not on the top/Root of the card the module will not boot.

Everything in root but no DrumitInit.dkit file.
These are the ones I got (and they are a backup of everything I had when it worked before)

Drumit.dkit
Drumit130.bin
DrumitRub.dkit
DrumitTrig.dkit
Globalconfig.dcfg

And then all the sounds in their folders.

Well, the DrumitInit.dkit is only a backup .dkit file on the module. It is only there really for if you screw up your settings and need to get back to the factory default. So, it is not necessary to use the module. And it shouldn't make any difference when you plug into your computer. But just in case you want it ..... here is a link to that file: https://files.secureserver.net/0s34uFk9R9ZR0Y
Another file that is normally on the module is the .metadata_never_index file, which is specifically for Mac users. So you might want to add that to your root. Here is a link: https://files.secureserver.net/0s9lesDNRsrDvP
Hope it helps, J

If you still are having problems accessing the module on the computer I would suggest contacting 2Box support or try hooking up to a PC.
