Just wanted to show off my new toy, it's a kat KT3, all rubber and feels great. Using it with my mac to trigger SD2, no complaints there, response ist ok and the size of the pads is a relief compared to other manufacturers, the feel is like the pearl trutrac heads.

Edcito, where did you get that rack mounted tablet holder? Could use something like that for my kit!

edcito

Hey, that's an iKlip Xpand holder, it fits any tablet up to 12" size.

Yeah, I plugged it to a 2box and the results were less than inspiring, all pads were mono, only the head sound.

Hmm, that's not good news. I expect the KAT snare/toms have non-piezo sensors in rims which are incompatible with 2Box.  Well, I guess that pretty much answers my main question about KAT pads. How about the KAT cymbals, did they work OK with 2Box?

The next item for me to look into is whether the KAT components are compatible with the new ATV ad5 module. And I suppose I shouldn't discount the KAT KT4 module itself; it's carrying some pretty good sounds - I'm just not concinced about it's sensitivity and dynamic range. Seems the only critiques available online are all from one person - who of course works for KAT and might therefore be disinclined to mention any shortcomings of the kit.

His videos are very good but - they don't go into those two factors much; not that I've seen at least.

Thanks for the info edcito.

I honestly didn't fiddle with the module settings when connecting the pads to it. I don't even remember if I changed the pad type, but I'm sure I tried a few times hitting the rim and no signal was detected by the module. As for the cymbals, all were over the place, can't say for sure how many zones...

Thanks edcito. This is very puzzling to me.
