Kick miss triggering

Hi everyone,
I'm having some problems with my kick those last days. When I hit the pad the sound it mades is like four kicks at the same time and with a very high volume. When it sounds normally I get a standard sound but with very less volume than usually. It is completely random but I use to have more problems with strong kicks than with less ones.
I've changed the head (which gave me some problems like this one in the past when it broke), I've changed cables and chanels and I've revised trigger, gain and volume options which are all correct.
I have this kit for 3 years now and this is the first time I'm having this problem.
Thank you for your help.

How did you revise the trigger? It sounds like you need to replace the piezo.
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

I revised the trigger options in te brain and they are all ok. I also think it's a problem of the piezo so it leads me to my next question:
Do you know where I could buy a new one? because I live in Spain and we don't have official distribuitor here.
Also, can you tell me if I can change the kick piezo by the one of a tom pad?

Jman

The 1st thing would be to check your piezo on the kick. A few people have posted about having a wire broken loose at the piezo and re-soldering the wire back on for the repair. If you replace the piezo and are not keen on soldering yourself you can purchase a piezo with wires and splice the wires to the existing wires. Here is a thread on that: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,1294.msg12451.html#msg12451
I do not have a 2Box pad but you can verify the size of the piezo. I believe they are 20MM, but might be 27MM? And you could use the piezo out of another pad, but since piezos are not expensive I would recommend buying a new one. In this age of internet shopping piezos can easily be bought from almost anywhere in the world, Spain included  :) http://www.ebay.es/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=Piezo+20MM&_sacat=0

Man, I thank you A MILLION times for your help. But, since I'm completely null in piezos and electronics I'd like to ask you once again:
I understand my piezo is a black circle of about 26 mm (or 27 as you said), which is sticked at the top of a small yellow foam cylinder. Do I have to unstick it from there to stick a new one? I mean, is this the usual way they are (with the foam and like glued)?
Sorry for my questions but this is the first time I have these problems since I started playing electronic drums. And sorry for mi English too.
Thanks a lot

Look at the pictures in the first thread I linked above. The brass side of the piezo is facing the mesh head. The ceramic side of the piezo with the wires attached is stuck to the foam. Try to gently separate the foam from the piezo. If replacing the piezo: measure the outer diameter of the brass. You can also measure the diameter of the white ceramic since piezos are available with different diameters of ceramic. Replace with a similar size piezo. I suggest buying several piezos, as they are relatively inexpensive and good to have around.

Now I've got everething. Thank you so much for your help and your pacience.

Hey man,
I changed the piezo yesterday and everything is working perfectly. I've just noticed that I can't tense the head to the limit without having the same problems again. Do you know why this can be?
Thanks again

Jman

If it is retriggering, make sure you are on OS 1.30. You have a Mask Time trigger parameter in the new OS that when raised a bit will compensate for that.

Hi kullkroa, I'm spanish too. I can help you if needed (probably not at Jman master level but...). The symptoms you indicate sound like a hardened foam (some times it happens after some time, excessive heating, direct sunlight, etc...) or a misplaced or moved trigger..

I would suggest to get in touch with 2Box support (mail available on their website) to ask for a replacement trigger, but out of that have a visual inspection ans compare with the triggers on the other pads (metallic support hosting the trigger can be bond or moved; kick pad is to some extent the weak element and we use to abuse...!).

Are you using original mesh heads or Mylar? This can have some influence too.....
