Hi Hat clutch not working

Just got my kit and very impressed so far...BUT I think I may have a faulty hi hat/hi hat clutch as it does not seem to want to tighten properly to the hi hat pole.

So I can't calibrate my hi hats properly and can't make any use of the hi hat pedal.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Am I doing something wrong?

Any help of feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is a common mistake, I made it too. The manufacturer makes the mistake. I'm Dutch and it is a bit hard to explain but just take the litte metal block out on top of the hat with the screwthreads and insert it again but 180 degrees turned. When it is rotated the wingnut will tighten itself to the rod and now it cannot. It is too easy ...

I had that too. Unscrew, put the hexagonal part with the treaded side into the hexagonal hole and refit the thumb nut. Since it's made in China:... it's made in a different direction ;D

I was banging my head against that for a while. Such an easy mistake to make! Thank you.
