Yes, and it also mentions some new sounds - hope they make those available to the older modules as well...….

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Re: RIM SHOT!

The 2Box site has both the D5 and D3 card sounds available to download.
Looking at my copies, there are 3 rim shots on each, and they appear to be different.....

So will I  :D

I use Sennheisers for drumming (can't remember the model offhand) - but closed backs do tend to increase the bass a bit.
I've also got some open backed AKGs that I use for mixing (K702s) - which in theory are more 'accurate' for drumming - but I hear too much of the acoustic noise from the pads - so I prefer the closed backed for playing...…..

If anyone else is using (or thinking of using) Cakewalk (and why not - it's free!) I've built a drum map for the 2Box.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvEC4KT8mxCMqfAYa0ziTV0KwCc6Qw
Based on the default midi settings and tested on Cakewalk and Drumit5
Should work on Sonar and/or Drumit3 (but untested).
Hope this is useful!

Can you get quiet hits by tapping really gently or using your fingers?
If so then the module and pad are working OK, you just need to find the right settings. If the gains are set as low as you can, why not try some of the other trigger types to see if they give a better response?
Also, look at the velocity response curves, they can make a big difference to how the pads respond.
Moving forward, learning to play softer would probably be better, but I don't want to take all the fun out of bashing a drum kit - we all secretly enjoy that 😁

I was under the impression that the internal card reader or the USB connection weren't compatible with the 32gb cards, and using the inbuilt USB with a 32gb card would corrupt it?

I managed to get spares from Hand in Hand (UK distributor).

Balanced (TRS) cables typically help with reducing hum picked up by longer audio cable runs, but I don't know why turning it on/off would make any difference...
Have you tried turning off / removing the Power Supply when the kit is off - does that make any difference to the hum?

Thanks Steve. I don't know if it's because that is the first kit I played when I got the kit setup, but no matter what other sounds I play I nearly always come back to that first kit and think it sounds better...
I think I need to make a conscious effort NOT to play that kit, and take time to get to know (and like) others.....
I'll make sure the next one uses a different kit 😀
Thanks for the feedback and support.

Also here is my first attempt at a recording....

The playing's a bit rough in a couple of places, but it was the best take I had. Also, my first time with video software so apologies if the editing / effects are a bit rubbish.

Still not sure if I'm happy / satisfied with recording in stereo (I only have a stereo interface at the moment) - still reviewing options between a bigger interface for the PC or an external recorder (my preferred option is a Zoom R16 at the moment....)

v2 of the kit is now ready for display:

Added 2 extra cymbals (the remnants of the second hihat pad on the left wired up as a single zone cymbal and a small Pintech single zone on the right) - wired into Rims on Toms 2 and 3.
Also added an extra pad on the left hand side that is wired in parallel with the Kick pad to allow me to play double kick riffs between my right foot and my left hand.

You can also see the floating platforms for the kit and my stool, and my custom stick holder (with orange shrink wrapped sticks)...

General chit-chat / Re: Just for fun...

Yep - I'd agree with 7A Nylons - they are my choice too.....
I don't have access to custom stick makers, but I did want to make mine a little quieter on rimshots so I tried some heat-shrink tubing on them...….

Setup guides and tips / Re: Workflow
December 10, 2018, 06:14:54 AM
Yep, I was doing something similar.... However i do occasionally edit the kits on the 2box while playing and then have to remember which way to copy the files (from SD to PC or PC to SD), and.if you find you've edited both then that takes some unravelling!
One thing to watch out for - the drumit5 does not have an internal clock, and so never updates the 'file modified' date on the files on the SD cards. I tried using a 2way sync process but found this was a problem as DOS has no idea if the SD files have been updated (as the date/time doesn't change).

They are balanced outputs, so they use TRS but only carry a mono signal
