I did some testing.

ddrum3 precision pad -> Aphex Impulse (MIDI out) -> ESI ESP1010 at 96kHz samplerate and 48 samples buffer -> Reaper ReaSamplomatic (sample player VST), I got 4,65ms latency.

So that's a tiny bit more than drumit3 "worst case" triggering setting, which gives 4,5ms.

Superior Drummer VST or similar maybe adds some buffering, I don't know. Surely uses more CPU cycles I would guess.

I have the Alesis 16” 3 zone (2 plug ins) and it works fine with the drumit3. The only issue I had was the different sound levels between the zones. I used the Lustark software to balance them the way I wanted and now work great.

Good info, thanks!

It looks like people have got descent results with the strike 3 zone and Roland modules...and drum-tec says it is Roland 3 way compatible...(it is then a piezo, switch, switch implementation)

So it looks like on paper that it will work fine on DI3. :-)

Awesome! Thanks for your help!

Hi Cableaddict!
We "met" at the ddrum forum. Please see my post on latency measurements on the drumit3: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,3932.0.html

God morgon, Anders ☺

We made the same conclusion - it's not on the compatibility list (which needs updating), and like you, I don't know how the Alesis Strike cymbals are constructed. Hoping someone on here know or have tried them with the drumit3.

Hi all

Is the Alesis Strike cymbals compatible with the drumit3? I intend to use it a 3-zone ride.
Thx

Hi!

When you say bad response... do you mean the pedal or the e-pad of RHH-135?

If it is the pedal...the 2box hh could be an alternative...but maybe there are even better alternatives:
1. The Roland’s or a ATV  hh. (ATV needs a Zourman module)
2. Stealth hh Kit.(then you could use the existing Yamaha pads)
3. 2box hi-hats

Best regards

It's mostly the pedal that sucks, and I hope it's the Yammie and not the module. The pad itself does have quite a hot spot, but the pedalfunction is what makes it suck.

Does additional boxes improve performance?

Hi all,

I've had the drumit3 now for over 3 weeks. I'm not happy with the response of the Yamaha RHH-135 hihat. I've gone through the settings enough to be familiar with them, so calibration is no longer the issue.

I'm looking for suggestions on which hihat to get. I would guess the 2box hihat would perform the best with the drumit3, but would like to have your input. Which hihat do you suggest I get?

Here's an example of the hihat playing I do on acoustic drums.

Attempting this style of playing on the Yamaha hihat is just frustrating.

My standard test is snare head, triggered by a piezo whose output is split - one cable direct to the interface, the second to the snare input with a direct out to the interface. The latency is the difference between the same wave form from each input.

That's how I make my tests too.

Edit: Got the module. ddrum3 precision pads and cast presicion pads work fine with the drumit3.

Thanks for the info!
However, I got the module and have done some measurements. Results are as follows:

Snare pad was Yamaha XP120SD
Snare head 6ms
Rimshot and x-stick gave similar results: at 3ms you have response, but the signal is of lower level. At 9ms full amplitude of signal is produced by the module. Not sure what this is about. Similar result with hihat pedal, see below.

Tom pad was a 10" ddrum3 precision pad. These pads used to produce too hot signal for the drumit5, this have changed in the drumit 3 and the level from these pads are no longer an issue.
Triggersetting "actr1" gave  3,5 ms

Hihat pad used was Yamaha RHH-135
HH open bow 5,5ms
HH open edge 6-7,5ms

HH closed bow 5,5ms
HH closed edge 6ms

The pedal function is what stood out negatively. 11-33ms with that lower signal appearing at 11ms and then the full signal at 33ms.

By the way I will be looking to change hihat pad for something better.

Ride pad was Yamaha PSY-155
Bow 3,5-5,5ms (quite a lot of jitter / variance)
Edge 5 5ms
Bell 3-5,5ms (variance here too)

Finally I scrolled through all triggertypes to see what the difference between them were. Pad used was 10" ddrum3 precision pad. Module was in that menu location when testing. I have read that this might affect performance, but I couldn't detect any abnormal performance.
Triggertypes:

kick1 4ms
kick2 4ms
padpp 4ms
papss 4ms
papsy 4ms
padps 4ms
actr1 3ms
actr2 3,5ms
actr3 4,5ms
rubh1 3ms
rubh2 3ms
rubh3 3,5ms

It's normal. Most samples you can buy are probably noise reduced by some plug-in.

I was wondering if someone owning the drumit3 would please measure the latency? I wonder if it was improved over the drumit5, which I measured and posted here on the forum.

I emailed 2box about the dd3 precision pads. They said to add a 47k resistor in series,  otherwise they are too hot as for the drumit5 also.
