5) It now appears to work with the threshold at 0.

a standard value for treshold is more between -40 and -20 ...

Hi all,

I'm what you would call a prospective user I guess. I'm a Roland kit owner looking to switch out my old td6 module for a Drumit5. From all the reviews I've read this is the best choice for me as it combines great sounds with the ability to tinker with stuff (I like to tinker)  8)
you should maybe buy a drumit 3 ... so everything from your old roland kit will work ... Drumit5 isnt compatible with the roland hihat pedal

in fact you're wrong ... all outputs are mono ... if you want a stereo bus it s 1+2 or 3+4 ...

yes i agree .

It would be useful to be able to chose any zone from any dsound . But not sure it s possible ...

hello

You can use MIDI in a clever way to record multitrack ...

If you record a midi track of your playing in your DAW , it s possible to multiply the discrete audio channels without limitation  ...

You can even record some sounds in stereo ( as most cymbal , snares and toms are stereo waves in the module )

you can for example record on the first pass :
- 1 MIDI track
4 audio outs from DI3
- 1 mono kick
- 1 mono Hihat
- 1 stereo snare

then you replay the midi track on your DAW , muting (on the MIDI track) the instruments you allready recorded  on the first pass , and re-arange the output busses to your needs ...

you record 6 outs from DI3 :
-mono ride cymbal
-mono percs or whatever you need  ...
-stereo mix of toms
-stereo mix of cymbals

if you need more you can do a third pass

It s better imo to keep the headphone out for monitoring purposes on the first recording ...

It s also possible to record only the midi track + a stereo out as a draft  , then ,   you chose the take you like better  , and re-record the audio in 2 passes ...

IMO snares toms and cymbals sounds much better when played in stereo most of the time...
Ok , in studios or gigs , most of the time you only have one mic on toms and snare , but you also have overheads microphones that give a stereo image of the kit .
Just try to listen a 2BOX stereo snare sample , then listen to it in mono , you'll hear the difference ...

another thing , with adat , you will be limited to 48khz ... 8 outs soundcards can do 96 or more ...
#53
IMO a halfrack soundcard with 8 inputs + a loom is the most compact rig ... a second hand RME fireface UC for instance ... there are cheaper alternatives that have 8 line inputs too ..
#54
what are you wanting to feed with adat out ? a mixer , a soundcard ?
#55
First , SPDIF is stereo only  ... multitrack is possible with ADAT .

2BOX dont offer an internal  ADAT card , and i dont think it s possible ( or really useful ) to add one .

Gears that have an ADAT out are sending the digital out directly , without an extra A/D conversion ... they also have a digital input so you can sync the device with your audiocard ...

If you really need digital out , it s more simple to buy a A/D converter in a 1/2 rack or rack format to plug the DI5 ... or to go directly into a multitrack soundcard ...

#56
you should try to simply angle the bass drum pad  , and lift the transversal bar on which it is attached if needed  ...

- Do you use a stereo cable ?

- You can split tom4 input and use the rim zone to plug the kick & set a kick sound ...

What about the xp100 as toms? I see in the manual on page 45 that the PaPSY supports 3 zones for the snare but for the toms is not crossed, do they support 3 zones as well?
nope , just snare & cymbals

One thing to note regarding the XP120SD (Textured Silicone Pads) towards the edge of the pad the triggering falls off a bit to say the last quarter inch of the pad. I am sure its the Textured Silicone and you cant raise the gain high enough to get it any better. Very much still playable though.

Who needs to play on the last quarter inch of the pad ...? :)
