Hi!
I just wanted to post that a 3 zone flavor (down mic based) of this legendary 1920s Ludwig Black Beauty Snare sample can be found in the factory library of 2box DrumIt Three. It is named ZD BB Dow Dry RSC can be found in /snare/3zones

I have also launched the complete pack with the rest of about 6 flavors of the snare especially for Drumit Three and to support 3 zones. Head, Rim & Crosstix in the same dsdn. This pack also works for DrumIt Five...but here you need to manually select between Rim or Crosstix sound.

Please note, to be able to utilize 3 zones on DrumIt Three you need to have a piezo, switch and switch based e-pad like the Yamahas. I have implemented it myself by using a piezo/piezo based snare + a Roland BT-1...but it will consume one extra channel...but it works great!

Thanks for watching!

Best regards

Ah I see. That’s technically 2 zones! Just different samples on the rim depending on velocity.

Ahh! It even fooled me...I thought the PD-128S could generate 3 zones...but this is not possible with just 2 zones as this pad have. (Piezo for both head and rim)

To be able to generate three zones in a proper way with the Three you need a pad like Yamaha with piezo for head, switch for rim and a switch for crosstix.

There is of course other ways to do it also. Mounting a BT-1 to handle the crosstix trigger...but it will eat another channel on the three.

Hi!
They are unbalanced (mono) line level outputs.

Hi!

It looks like my VH-13 conversion module works ok with ATV HH and Drumit Three...some more testing needed to find the optimal settings...but then we will launch it as a working solution.

Are you using the same cables as when you initially set it up at home?

Hi - some history of the sounds found in DD4SE:

The DD4SE sound compression was a complex and advanced thing. The sounds were compiled using a 68K based MAC with a custom written Clavia app. The fabric sounds are actually consisting of 10 layers of 8 bit samples and a very special "round robin with filters" to take away the machine gun effects. The sounds were compressed 6 times in size. So I am guessing it won't be possible to create new sounds to the DD4SE...too much special stuff and solutions.

Hi!

I am really hoping that the ZD Conversation for dd4se will meet your expectations!
It is going to be interesting to see if you like it!

Regarding the kick drum alternatives I have tried the following gears with positive results on my DD4SE:

  • Roland RT-10K external trigger with Remo Silent Stroke
  • Roland KT-10 Kick pedal
