It's on the top/right of the SDSE page here

SDSE 1.7.5 is now available.

This version improves Reaper configuration for small screens. Exporting is now fully supported on resolutions as low as 800x600.

To upgrade from 1.7.3:
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your configuration won't be overwritten)

Changelog since 1.7.3:

  • Reaper: it is now possible to start exporting in full screen mode or with the dock detached from the main window - thanks to Michael for testing
  • Reaper: new option "Detach Docker" (enabled by default, do not disable unless your screen height is bigger than 960)
  • Reaper: improved adjustments made to the VST plugins paths
  • lowered minimum supported resolution to 800x600 and removed adjustments that are no longer necessary (scrolling the VST window)
  • EZdrummer: fixed support for Pop/Rock when no other EZX pack is installed
  • EZdrummer: fixed possible issue with SDSE not finding preset (when the "My Documents" path was modified in Windows and EZdrummer doesn't find it)
  • DrumIt Five Editor add-on: fixed slow down when Reaper is open, fonts are scaled using DPI
  • fixed .dkit not being built when "Build .dkit from .dsnd" was left to "min parts" and not set to "enabled"
  • fixed issues when Windows Aero is enabled

edcito: I sent you a message, we'll figure it out.

SDSE 1.7.4 is coming soon, with more improvements for notebook screens.

In other news, BFD Eco is currently on sale at -60% on fxpansion.com until the end of the month, it's a good deal for those looking at the Zildjian Digital Vault pack.

SDSE 1.7.3 is now available.

This versions improves the way Reaper is configured by SDSE to make it even easier to get started. Most first time users won't even have to set the Audio device or VST plugins path in Reaper.
On Windows 64-bit SDSE checks your VST plugins path setting and fixes it as needed to make sure only the correct versions of your VST plugins are loaded.
The Region Manager is also configured to be more convenient.

To upgrade from 1.7:
- delete SDSE_Shrink.ini and SDSE_SD.ini from your current SDSE folder
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your configuration won't be overwritten)

Changelog since 1.7:

  • support for the new Indie Folk EZX
  • improved support for Addictive Drums (more reliable when starting an export job)
  • Reaper: VST plugins path is set or corrected if needed, settings like "Inform plug-ins of offline rendering state" are set as needed
  • Reaper: the Region Manager is configured and moved to the free space on the left
  • Reaper: improved dock area position for small screens
  • SD2: improved disabling of Humanize settings

SD2 has several Metal packs like Metal Foundry. I like Music City to play along Rock, it's just two simple kits without a lot of pieces but it feels and sounds right and you get 3 zone cymbals. If you have BFD2 or BFD Eco you can get Zildjian Digital Vault for cymbals.

Replacing the 4GB of memory by 32GB is really easy, you can find the guide here. You'll have to make sure to get a compatible SD card (topic here) and copy all files to the new card. You can get the extender cable you'll need and a compatible SD card here.

64-bit is perfect for DSoundTool on Windows (just make sure to install the 64-bit version of Java JRE) and 8GB of RAM is more than enough. If your system works fine you absolutely don't need to update to export to .dsnd.

It's a very good question and I'm also interested into what others think about this. As far as I know the consensus seems to be that any .wav file converted to .dsnd does sound a little different than it does on a computer. To test it you can extract the .wav from a .dsnd you exported and play it using Audacity or a similar tool. It will most likely sound a bit different than the .dsnd played with the module. There could be several reasons for this and I suspect they can add up.
- it's possible that increasing the volume of the pads in the UNIT settings results in a sound that is a bit closer to what you hear on the computer.
- it's possible that the module adds its own EQ.
- it's possible that the default EQ in SD2 is quite different from the one used for stock 2box .dsnd (so playing your own .dsnd after a stock .dsnd could make it appear darker or brighter).
- the source could also make a difference. When listening through headphones, if you plug the headphones directly on the module it's possible that it doesn't sound the same as the same headphones plugged in a headphone amplifier (it could even sound worse on the computer).
A good solution is to tweak the EQ in the VST before exporting. You can export several versions of the same toms and use the "Preset" field in SDSE to append something to the .dsnd filenames like EQ1, EQ2. Another solution would be to have a different SD card for sounds from a particular VST and use different EQ settings on the module itself.

There isn't. The best way to use SDSE if you don't have a PC at hand is to use Windows with Boot Camp or in a virtual machine on your Mac. Else, a small netbook with at least 1GB of RAM can be enough to export.

You should not need to reinstall Superior, unless you need the 64-bit version. The evaluation version of Reaper is complete so that can't be the problem.
Please send me a mail (in my profile or the contact form on lustark.com), I'm sure we'll get it working in no time :)

It means Reaper couldn't load any of those VST instruments supported by SDSE. You just need to set up the path to your VST plugins in Reaper. Press CTRL+P in Reaper to open Preferences, scroll down to VST/Plugins, click "Add" and browse to your VST path (most likely C:\Program Files\VstPlugins). The next version of SDSE I've been working on this weekend will make it easier (it will configure Reaper so you won't have to).

The message suggests that Reaper couldn't load Superior at all, was Superior Drummer loaded in Reaper at any point when you tried? Superior needs to be loaded in Reaper, not running as a standalone program. If you are on 64-bit Windows and use the 64-bit version of Reaper you'll need to install Superior with the small installer that is available on their website to get the 64-bit version of Superior. You may also want to to check that Reaper knows where to find your VST plugins (press CTRL+P in Reaper, scroll down to VST/Plugins and check the path).
You don't need to open DSoundTool before exporting, you just need to copy dsoundtool.jar in the SDSE folder.
Once you see Superior in Reaper, use the Construct menu to set up a kit (I'd recommend disabling all pieces with "none" then enabling just one kit piece for your first try) then click "All".
I'm sending you a message now with more instructions.

Hi Noakser,
SDSE generates a .dkit when you export at least 3 kit pieces at once. You should find the .dkit files in the destination path, in the folder that contains the dsnd folders. They are named using the sound library short name and tom information. If you export the default kit from Avatar the filename is "SD2NY GMS Coated Heads.dkit".
Please send me a message if you don't get any .dkit file at all when you export at least 3 pieces using "All" of F1.

You can also create .dkit files without exporting to .wav or .dsnd. To generate a .dkit for any kit loaded in SD2 or another supported VST, load a kit then press F4.
This is useful when you export from different kits that share a lot of instruments when you know that you already have the .dsnd, if you used the Batch mode with BFD2 or Addictive Drums to export all pieces and need .dkit files to go with them, or if you ever need to generate those files again.

.dkit files generated by SDSE are "single kit" files, to load them in the DrumIt Five Editor you need to select "import single kit".
To load a single kit in the DrumIt Five Editor, you ned to open a kit bank first (the one that comes with the module is named DrumIt.dkit), and have all your .dsnd in the same path as this kit bank (same folder, or subfolders of the kit bank).

SDSE 1.7 is now available.

It brings support for Drumasonic 2, Drumasonic Luxury and EZdrummer Lite.

EZdrummer Lite is free this month, make sure to pick it up on toontrack.com to get the Cocktail EZX for free!

To export from Drumasonic you will need to install Kontakt 5 or the free Kontakt 5 Player.
To avoid getting cut samples when rendering from Drumasonic, go to the Reaper Preferences (CTRL+P), scroll to Plugins/VST, check "Inform plug-ins of offline rendering state", click "Apply".

To upgrade from 1.6:
- delete SDSE_Zones.ini from your current SDSE folder
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your settings are safe)

Changelog since 1.6:

  • support for Drumasonic 2 and Drumasonic Luxury - thanks to Jman, TK and tower of p for testing
  • support for EZdrummer Lite (all available pieces without selection)
  • support for EZX packs in SD2 when they are not in the default EZdrummer folder and not properly installed in Superior Drummer
  • when the Foot Splash articulation is missing the second to last hit is now used (previous versions used the most open).
  • improved Reaper adjustments, set Reaper to show more of the VST area.
  • fixed issue with building Hats that affected the Cocktail and Drumkit From Hell EZX
  • fix for the Snare rim sound option

I'm glad to report that Drumasonic support is coming, very soon :)

SDSE 1.6 is now available.

It is now possible to export from BFD Eco and the libraries it supports.
BFD Eco uses the same sound engine as BFD2 and is compatible with most BFD2 libraries including Zildjian Digital Vault.

SDSE 1.6 is easier to install, with steps during Installation. SDSE will also adjust and set up Reaper for you if needed.

To upgrade from a previous version:
- delete SDSE_BFD.ini from your current SDSE folder
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your settings are safe)

Changelog since 1.5:
  • support for BFD Eco - thanks to Jeff for letting me have a look at BFD Eco on his computer
  • easier installation with steps
  • Reaper is set up as needed when SDSE and Reaper are both open
  • the SDSE window can now be moved (useful for small screens) - thanks to Perico for the suggestion
  • "All" button: instrument names are added to the .wav filenames when "Rename .wav" is enabled ("Instrument - SNARE.wav")
  • ".dsnd" button: the instrument type can now be located anywhere in the filename ("SNARE.wav", "Instrument - SNARE.wav") - thanks to Slap the Drummer for the suggestion
  • added more checks to make sure Reaper is ready before exporting
  • improved checks before starting rendering to .wav
  • fixed issue with BFD2 cymbals not exporting

Hi,
It may be added. Don't worry, you were the first person to ask on the forum.
I'm sorry for Mac users but there are no plan for a Mac version in the immediate future. It would take a lot of time and the current priority is to add support for more VST. I'll definitely look at it though.
The next version of SDSE is coming soon :)
