SDSE 1.9.1 is available.

It fixes an issue when building hats that was introduced in 1.9 and affected exporting from Superior Drummer 2.

You can count me in, it would be nice to have BFD3 supported in SDSE 2.0.
For now SDSE 1.9 is released with support for Steven Slate Drums 4  :drum1:

Thanks for the kind words Burnin' :)

SDSE 1.9 is now available.

This version adds support for Steven Slate Drums 4 Platinum, EX and Custom.

When batch converting your own WAV files to .dsnd without any VST (without Reaper and a VST) the DSND files are now named using any text present in the WAV filename instead of the instrument type.
Examples of valid WAV filenames and the resulting DSND filenames:
instrument type: "KICK1.wav"
-> "kick1.dsnd"
instrument type - instrument name: "SNARE1 - Instrument.wav" + "SNARE1 RIM - Instrument.wav"
-> "Instrument.dsnd"
instrument name - instrument type - comment: "Instrument - KICK1 - Comment.wav"
-> "Instrument Comment.dsnd"

To upgrade from 1.8 or 1.8.1:
- delete SDSE_shrink.ini, SDSE_SD.ini and SDSE_AD.ini from your current SDSE folder
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your configuration won't be overwritten)

Changelog since 1.8.1:

  • support for Steven Slate Drums 4 Platinum, EX and Custom - thanks to eyerichards and Jman
  • support for the new Rock! EZX
  • support for the Black Velvet and Vintage Dry adpaks for Addictive Drums
  • when converting .wav files to .dsnd without any VST loaded the .dsnd files are now named using any text present in the .wav filename
  • added more checks to the Reaper configuration
  • lowered minimum Superior Drummer 2 version to 2.1.0 (2.3.1 or greater is strongly recommended)
  • fixed Preset field (used to append a few letters to .dsnd/.dkit, when exporting kit variations)
  • improved DSND filenames for some SD2 packs (Music City SDX and Nashville EZX Black Beauty snares, Funkmaster Clyde and Jabo)
  • DKIT files are named using the toms make and model when a majority are from the same model (not only when all are the same model)
  • improved DKIT filenames for BFD2, BFD Eco, Drumasonic and the Pop! EZX

Well it only exists as an idea so far but if it happens you'll be one of the first to know.
On the other hand, SDSE 1.9 is coming very soon :)

Hi G-loops,

I added a quick start guide here.
SDSE also displays a welcome screen when you start it for the first time, with a short help.

In short, to export from Superior Drummer to .dsnd/.dkit:
- open Reaper and SDSE
- set up a kit or a few kit pieces in Superior Drummer
- click "All" or press F1

It works with Reaper, you won't be able to use Nuendo with it. Superior Drummer 2 is supported as well as all its EZX and SDX packs, except for the new Rock EZX (which will be supported in a future version).

Please don't hesitate to contact me directly :)

Hi,
Sorry for not being able to provide more support sooner. I have sent you a mail one hour ago, and the last one before that yesterday (Saturday) evening at 1:35AM. I'm sure we'll get it working for you, I'll send you another mail now.

Hi Slinky,
Steven Slate Platinum is not yet supported by SDSE, you can see a list of all supported VSTs and their sound libraries in the first post of this topic.
For now you can export semi-manually using SDSE. Start SDSE, start Reaper, click on "Add" near the bottom/left of the Reaper Docker window, click on VSTi and add Steven Slate 4, load the "Superior" mapping in SSD4, open the Region Marker/Manager window in Reaper and check the toms you want to export, click "All" in SDSE or press F1. If you need more help please send me a PM or email.

Thanks for reporting this!

SDSE 1.8.1 is now available.
This version fixes the cymbal issue described by logihack when exporting from some Superior Drummer and EZdrummer libraries.

To upgrade from 1.8:
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your configuration won't be overwritten)

Question: is there a feature to disable superior drummer´s panning automatically?
Hi tower of p, the nopanning.s20 file is not part of SDSE actually. To export without panning the best way would be to save projects in SD2 with all pannings set to center and load them before exporting. Another way is to enable the "mono" setting in SDSE.ini, it will convert the sounds to mono before converting to .dsnd and you will then be able to set the panning with the module.

I'm happy to report that this VST is now supported in the new version of SDSE. Thanks once again to Jman for testing :)

SDSE 1.8 is now available.

It brings support for the Native Instruments Abbey Road Drummer series, Studio Drummer and Sennheiser DrumMicA. A total of 16 new kits are supported:
  • Abbey Road 50's Drummer
  • Abbey Road 60's Drummer
  • Abbey Road 70's Drummer
  • Abbey Road 80's Drummer
  • Abbey Road Modern Drummer
  • Abbey Road Vintage Drummer
  • Studio Drummer
  • Sennheiser DrumMicA (Wahan Acrylic)
DrumMicA is free, get it here

As usual all instrument names have been checked so that your new .dsnd/.dkit files can be copied immediately to a DrumIt Five module.

The Native Instruments and DrumMicA VSTs don't include a way to select kit pieces so SDSE 1.8 features a new add-on system. If the VST requires it SDSE displays check boxes to let you select the pieces you wish to export. The Native Instruments drummer series does include alternate snares, to export them select them in the VST just like you would select a kit piece in any other supported VST.

To upgrade from 1.7 or 1.7.5:
- delete SDSE_Shrink.ini and SDSE_SD.ini from your current SDSE folder
- extract the new version in your current SDSE folder, overwrite all files (your configuration won't be overwritten)

Changelog since 1.7.5:

  • support for the Native Instruments Drummer series: Abbey Road 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, Vintage, Modern, Studio Drummer
  • support for Sennheiser DrumMicA - thanks to Jman for testing

digitalDrummer, I would like to see it happen as much as you do. I would love to see many more people requesting a Mac version.

Here's a recap of the steps requireds to run SDSE on a Mac, in case more Mac users like tower of p would like to try it:
- use Boot Camp (free), or install VirtualBox (free) or install Parallels.
- install Windows - can be free if you have an old license or install the evaluation of Windows 8
- install SDSE and Reaper (needs to be installed on Windows either way)
- install your drum VSTs in Windows (it should be possible to share the sound files, tower of p did it with Superior Drummer 2)
It will take a bit of time depending on how many drum VSTs you have but it's nothing compared to the time you'll save using SDSE to export your drum sounds.

The topic poll is now "Would you be interested in a Mac version of SDSE" :)

Running Windows on a recent Mac is really much easier than one would think, and can be done for free.

All it takes is installing Virtualbox then installing Windows in VirtualBox. Once installed your virtual Windows will start fast any time you need it because it will resume were you left off last time.

Here's how to run Windows 8 for free on your Mac:

Thanks for telling me about this Jman. To exit SDSE at any time press CTRL+ALT+DEL, it will open a Windows screen with options, then press ESC a couple times to get out of this screen and close SDSE, it should exit right away. I'll look into reproducing and fixing the stalling issue today.
I'll also look at DrumMiCa, it's downloading right now :)

Edit:
Jman has confirmed that the problem is fixed in the current version of SDSE. If you don't have this particular issue there is no need to update.

Yes, I'm afraid there's not much we can do about that, most anti virus programs use a "guilty until proven innocent" approach that can be scary to the user.
Avast treats any program it doesn't know as suspicious so it will probably do that once when you upgrade to a new SDSE version. SDSE may be run in a sandbox or scanned by Avast the first time you launch it. If it happens, click "continue execution". The next time you start SDSE Avast should let it run.
