The DDrum Legacy / Re: loading sounds into drum from mac
February 16, 2019, 12:38:24 AM
That app might run okay in Wine (an app that runs some windows apps on Mac OS without the need to have a windows OS on a partition)  But failing that, make a partition with Windows on it and put the Drum Tool app on it. That's a guess btw as I have not done it.

wel it's also got the physical channel buttons like the original drumit5. Not sure of any other updates though.

Looks like they'll be making hardware again so you'll probably be able to purchase a new one soon. But why a 2box bass drum pedal, it was a standard chain drive pedal much akin to the plethora of them you can buy at any drum shop.

It's a 2nd generation of the drumit5. No doubt it will list a lot more than a drumit3 so I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

It looks like it will follow the same as the previous drumit5, so it will have a total of 8 when including the headphone out as 7+8.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: Trigger settings for trigit
January 25, 2019, 06:06:35 PM
Re double triggering on a kick with trigit triggers, assuming you’re using a mesh head then I suggest
AC1 trigger setting, set mask time to about 2 but the best bit of advice I can give us to put a pillow or some form of dampening in the kick drum. A piece of foam about 2-4 inch thick stemming from head to head but covering the circumference of the drum. Do the gain and threashold stage as normal. That should give you excellent triggering. Assuming there’s isn’t a loose connection on the piezo of the trigit!

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / New drumit5 module!
January 24, 2019, 09:44:48 PM
Hey chaps,
Just seen some videos of a new drumit5 module. Looks like it's got a card reader this time! No doubt it's got the new universal triggering, anyone know of any other changes?
#443
Yeah you'll be safe with Roland. The Yamaha Pads TP and XP series also work really well!!! Yamaha Cymbals I didn't find as functional. But like the chap above said, most pads will work even if you do have to a little bit of tweaking after finding a trigger type that's close, it's a really versatile module!

It uses the same format of multisample so the editor is the same for both modules. The only thing that it different with regards to the editor between the drumit5 and drumit3 is that the editor can make 3zone sounds that only the drumit3 can utilise with ONLY Yamaha Pads. The TP and XP series to be more specific.

if you find a pad too hot (hitting zero on 0db gain) there's a gain reduction function, can't think what it's called off hand, but it's in triggering settings. When set to on, have a much wider plain to adjust gain to suit hot pads. You might wanna try messing with that.

You cannot trigger any more sounds than the total channels of the drumit3. Unlike some other modules where you have the trigger channel and then some more than can be triggered via midi.
But if you have a drumit3 and say, a SH drumit5 (which can be picked up quite cheap now) you can feed the second module into the aux in of the Drumit3.  That would give you an extra 12 or so channels.

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Re: Playing Loops?
January 14, 2019, 12:45:58 AM
I can confirm, it plays loops. And not only that, VERY well with lots of choices of how it's played. Single shot, start/stop on hit, set velocity, velocity sensitive. In fact, I can't think of another module that does it better!

Ddrum 3 and 4 did this very well, and not just on snare. They also did pressure sense too. Bending/dampening of sounds. It was really cool to mess about with. I don't know how they (2box) don't have a patent themselves as they were the first to incorporate it in to a single pad. I think Simmons did it also with the SDX but that was because the pads were multi-zoned.
Personally, I don't think it's a major thing but quite a few seems to really want this feature.

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Re: Resonance head
January 12, 2019, 11:42:58 AM
Hi there and welcome!
I would keep the resonant head on too. But you might want to put some foam dampening. I'd suggest about a 2 inch thick going from mesh head to resonant head wrapping the inside of the drum. This will help with triggering. You could probably get away with no dampening and one of the AC trigger settings. But if the drummer is going to be using lots of double kicks, a bit of dampening will seriously improved the triggering of fast notes as you could select a lower AC setting meant for toms/snare and not have to adjust mask time (the amount of time the module will allow a second trigger to happen)
Perhaps try it without first, but if you get into some triggering issues (double triggering or faster notes not being tracked after adjustment of AC setting and or mask time) put some dampening in. It might also feel better to play too, depends on the drummer though. We're all different!

Thanks for all the help. I did go ahead and order the card AND extender.  So does this mean that I should load everything onto the card from my PC's SD reader, rather than connecting the DrumIt via USB?

But I'm pretty excited for the external USB option via extender, because it will allow me to save specific kits for specific live projects on specific SD cards (seeing as they are only $6-$8 each).

Looking forward to getting my home eDrum Kit assembled and my live triggered kit set up. This is a new world for me. Very exciting!

yes, take the card out of extender and put into your pc sd card reader to do any changes. its faster and doesn't require the module turned on in usb mode.
