:-)

Jman - you almost made me worried...luckely on page 10..specs..it states "balanced"...:-)

Never mind! -The real challenge for the OP is to create a good mix...and find the right input settings for the Q8. (Besides playing…). The Behringers is not known for providing good output signal...Not at least on my XR12 board...my three other Mackie mixers gives better signal as default.

:-)

The tele outputs on that mixer is balanced. (TRS)

Who said something about recording through the mixer...we are talking about replaying OPs drumsless tracks From the PC via USB to the mixer which can act as a sound card...then the whole thing gets recorded on the Zoom Q8.

e-drum DIY / modifications / Virtual Clutch with foot switch...
« on: May 12, 2019, 07:54:28 AM »
Hi!

I recently got a proposal from a customer to modify my hi-hat conversion module for FD-8/VH-11 with Virtual Clutch for 2box DrumIt Five. The "mod" was instead of using a plain switch for controlling the virtual clutch, now got replaced by a foot switch. (And thinking of it, I should have done this years ago on my design!)

I have previously built some guitar effect boxes to friends...so I had the right foot switch in stock. :-)

The virtual clutch function works like this - you can be pre-define the hi-hat pedal position in advance (adjustable from closed to half open hi-hat). When pressing the foot switch it will go from normal hi-hat pedal use to the pre-defined pedal value. Extremely useful if using double kicks etc...

Note: Even if running in virtual clutch mode...and pressing the hi-hat pedal, it will move from the pre-defined pedal position to closed - if any gap defined.

Now after the mod - the footswitch on the conversion module controls this function rapidly from your feet….

Hi!

The Q802USB have balanced outputs (TRS Tele) which can you can connect to your Zoom Q8 using these kind of cables: https://www.thomann.de/intl/cae_17064_audiokabel.htm?ref=cg_cg_4_7_pro+snake_0
(You need two)

Connect the 2box DrumIt Five to the mixer using plain unbalanced 1/4 connector > unbalanced 1/4 connector cables to your two mic/line inputs: Example on cables: https://www.thomann.de/intl/pro_snake_tpi_10.htm?ref=cg_cg_3_3_pro+snake_0

Normally you would just need two of these cables tapping a stereo signal...but as you have many inputs on your mixer...you could go even further using 6 channels on 2box feeding 6 channels on you mixer. (But this could be your next step if succeeding with a stereo recording - some of the inputs are a bit limited with EQ etc...but it would work)

Ok- The computer - You can just connect you computer via USB and play your drumless tracks. (Just install the right driver on your PC) The mixer is also a sound card...so it will play the music together with you 2box channels. You will need to adjust the volume coming from the computer with the signal coming from the 2box...but besides this...this would feed all the audio signals into your Zoom Q8 in a nice way. :-)

No, You should just to be able to store/update your kits (even if they are outside the 1-100 programs) and it should be able to store all settings. Running the last 2box OS?

Hi!

We will see if I do a product of this hh controller. One problem with IR-based devices is that if you have other light sources in the environment - the signal could get disturbed. So the fear with a Low Volume HH...(where you have a lot of holes in the hh surface where the light could shine through) - is that this could make the pedal function unstable and not work. (Even the ATV hh is actually quite easy to make going banans on stage - when using a lot of stage lights.)

So some kind of white area under the top hi-hat is necessary. Otherwise it is working great!

940 seems to be abit high. Have you used the trim potentiometer in the the back of the three module to adjust it down?

850 should be the raw value when the clutch is released and the hihat is resting in closed mode by its on weight.

Hi! The RH-135 is on the list of supported hh for Drumit Three. (On their website)

I have not tested it myself...but I am tempted. If it is poor performance...maybe there is business opportunites. :-)

Hi!

I used a mesh kick with my Ddrum4se and that works very well. (16 inch kick...) But You have some trigger settings in Ddrum4se for external triggers.

Hi!

Just to really understand the trigger part of your question...:-)

I get the feeling that you are using your td-25 module to trigger the DrumIt Three over midi...

True or false?
