Setup guides and tips / Live with the 2 Box possible feedback loop?
« on: April 17, 2016, 09:38:38 AM »
Hi guys I took the kit on the road last night after a brief rest, only changes I have made are,I am now using a converted acoustic kit and I have added a 32g expander SD card slot.
I copied the settings from my orig 2 box SD card regarding outputs and set ups etc as per this post:

Unit->Intf - Assign your pads to channels. Press each pad switch in turn and make sure the BUS  is what you want, adjust it with rightmost data entry knob
Unit->Out - Connect the monitor mix from the desk to your aux in and change LINE to Mono unless you are sure you have a stereo mix coming from the desk
Unit->Out - Set PHONS to Sub
Unit->Out - If you receive the drums in the monitor mix from the desk, deselect the drums in the subgroup (left data entry knob) otherwise leave it selected (or you won't hear drums)
Unit->Out - Make sure Out 1.2! is set

If you don't want to use 5 or 6 ouputs for instrument separation (maybe you only have 2 channels on the desk?) then you can assign all instruments except the kick to bus 1, and everything else to bus 2
Fader settings are irrelevant unless you're using the internal mixer (The headphones or the 1+2 outputs are set to MIX. They should not be in your case)
If you don't see a '!' next to a channel assignment, it means that the volume is controlled by the volume knob. Otherwise (with a '!') the level is output at nominal line level regardless of mixer or volume knob settings. This is what you want in most situations for the best quality sound.

Everything I did worked but I did notice slight distortion when the mixing desk gave me more toms or more vocal for example.

Last night I wasn't getting any sound back from the mixing desk but I was getting a signal.
I turned the line in vol up in the 2 box mixer ( something I didn't have to do before?) but it does say it is set to zero as default
This worked I started getting everything from the pa mixer to my headphones.
But distorted, i turned the drums in the pa monitor down and used the volume on the 2 box and could crank them right up no problem but from the pa they distorted, as did the vocals and so on.
I didn't think the internal mixer in the module came in to play as I thought the routing options
I was using cancelled It out?
It's obviously an easy fix and probably a simple routing setting that I am missing but as the gear is packed up for the next gig I can't get it out and start messing has anyone came across this before?
Anyone of you more savvy guys have any ideas?
Cheers 👍

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Transporting E Cymbals?
« on: April 15, 2016, 11:57:38 AM »
Hi guys,
Anyone using e cymbals in their live set ups,
Wanna share what they use to transport them?
I've looked for purpose built soft cases etc
Nothing really out there, I am currently using
A 16" floor Tom soft padded bag which works pretty
Well but would prefer something a bit more purpose
Built. Perhaps there is a market for something like this?

Setup guides and tips / Save on! No Save
« on: April 14, 2016, 05:15:04 PM »
Hi Guys,

I'm sure this has been covered but after having a look through the manual
I have Jman,s 32g extender fitted which I have to say is an outstanding
Piece of kit and I strongly recommend it to all!
My problem is I have edited kits on the Mac,
Renamed them first, then saved the kits and all works perfectly when I
Put the SD back in the module and sounds fantastic.
But... When I make small tweaks when hooked up to the kit, with SAVE enabled
The sensitivity tweaks and odd cymbal volume and the cymbal I have added
By adding a splitter to the 4th Tom rim and changing the +++ setting for it to -+-
To make it crash instead of the bell sound all works great I save after each change
But the next day when I fire up the module the settings are back to how they were.
I need to find out what I am missing here as I have to break all the gear down to
go out live for a few months so I'm flapping a bit,
If anyone can please help with this I would be very greatful.
I have read the manual and can't find a solution to this issue. Just so you guys don't think I'm being
Lazy ....Cheers.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / E Drumming Live with IEM's
« on: March 20, 2016, 11:07:56 AM »
Hi Fellas,
Just a quickie, has anyone that has been playing live us IEM's.
I started with the SURE 215 set but couldn't manage with the over ear fittings and the buds on the ear pieces were awful so I tried a cheap pair of LD Systems ear buds which fit well but as our sound grows and the monitoring has become more detailed this pair have started distorting slightly so I am looking out for a pair of plug ins that don't go over the ear that can reproduce the quality and definition from the different ranges from the bass and the kick drum to the keys and cymbals snare and the vocal , just wondered if anyone has similar needs and found a recommendable solution?
Also if the Sure IEM's, higher up the chain have better fitting because to be honest the sound quality was superb.
Cheers 👍

Hi Guys,
Just put my editor on to drag a few new drums and cyms on their.
My floor Tom pad on the editor is 2 smaller overlapping pads?
Everything else is normal.
Checked the pad type in the module all looks
The same?
Thanks in anticipation 👍

Setup guides and tips / Problems playing live after 4 Gigs.
« on: February 21, 2016, 11:37:18 AM »
Hi guys,
I am really struggling here with my kit live,
I seem to get the sounds for the pads sounding ace
The sensitivity is great can lightly tap them and beat the hell out of them.
Then when we start playing it all goes tits up
The snare doesn't respond like it did the light strokes just don't happen
Even though I saved everything and exited the edit pages.
Also every time I go to use them, the snare I set as my main doesn't save I have to go back in the settings to find again.
Then the cymbals......these are really spoiling my live performance and overall experience.
The hi hat has absolutely no feeling when I watch performances on you tube you rarely see guys opening their hats I know why. I have tried all sorts of settings , maybe I just don't understand what everything means and the combinations in the settings it really is winding me up.
Even the crashes they work well but sometimes they just don't trigger I've had the sensitivity set so I can tap lightly then again hammer for the most they work but odd times they don't.
The ride cymbal just doesn't work at all and the rubbers are starting  to split on the cymbal edge I'm by no means a hard hitter but the edge gives the best triggering for some reason.
I bought a Roland cy14 which I use for my ride it's 2 zone but have the bell on the edge and it triggers beautifully I don't like the swinging it does it's a bit much but what a cymbal.
If I buy more of these will they solve the triggering issues.
Also does anyone have a hi hat that works?
Can you share settings please? Are Roland hats the best way to go?
I use the module as my in ear monitor for the band I have an out for the kick and another out for everything else my line comes back into the aux pot.
The way the kit is mixed to give a great front of house sound means the cymbals and toms are very very high in my ear mix is there any way to control these different levels without having a line out for each. I thought I would be able to control the drum mix in my ears from the unit without messing with front of house or the mix of the other instruments and vocals coming at me from the aux, it's like I have to set the levels funny for the cymbals and tons for them to cut through so it really messes my overall drum mix up in my ears real loud cymbals I need to have a separate out for everything to combat this then the monitor guy can control my in ear levels without adjusting FOH levels?
There are lots of settings that I don't understand on the kit and I will be honest I'm a step away from Going back to the tamas and the audix.
Thanks for your time guys.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Using my 2Box kit live
« on: January 09, 2016, 11:20:14 AM »
Hi guys,
After lots of trying I still can't manage to set up my kit when playing live.
I have gone through the settings and I just can't get it to do what I want
Could someone please dumb it down for me in an easy to interprate list.
I need my kit to go out to the front of house mixer with a separate channel
For my kick drum.
I need the full mix from the mixer to my headphones that are connected to my 2 box brain.
Plus I need my kit coming into my head phones also and have the possibility
To control the volume of the kit from the level
Knob on the brain for my headphones without changing the front of house volume.
And the sound guy controlling the volume of all the other band members in my headphones
From the mixer.
I hope I am not asking a lot but I am really struggling to achieve this.
Much appreciate any help.
Cheers Andy. Oh and also what cymbals are compatible with the unit?
I git a really cheap Pintech splash that works ok, but I am looking for another crash and continue using the 2 box cymbal as my ride.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Using 2 Box Drumit mk2 live
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:32:50 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm new here so forgive me if this has been asked before.
I am in rather a rush as have 1st gig using the kit on Friday.
At rehearsal I just connected the kit to the PA and used 1 headphone just so I could hear the rest of the band as they didn't go through the mixer.
Ok I believe that to have the kit going FOH I just send a jack from out 1 to the mixer and need not change a thing on the module.
To have a separate out for the kick I have assigned it on
intf - Bus 3  Out - 3 phones Mix.
Out 1.2 Sub! phones Mix

So if I connect out 1 to the mixer and out 3 I will have all the kit bar the kick to out 1 and the kick to 3 having a separate channel therefore on the monitor.
If I then send a jack from Aux output on the PA Mixer to the line in on the module I should then have the PA mix of all instruments and vocals + the drums and kick drum in my headphones from the headphone out on the module. And the level control will turn the kit up in my headphones only not FOH..
Is this all correct or am I way off? The reason for separating the kick is to send it through the Subs FOH.
Thanks for any help on this matter, much appreciated.
