Thinking of finally getting round to doing the 32gd SD card mod but looking at the 2box website there are only individual sounds. Did they not used to have a number of kits to download? Where could I download some new kits - bit bored of the inbuilt ones

Thanks

Been a while!

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Hi hat coming loose on rod
February 17, 2013, 08:29:19 PM
My 2box hi hat, which is secured on a standard hi hat stand, keeps coming loose and I can not tighten the 2box drum key, which secures the cymbal on the rod, any tighter. So the cymbal becomes loose and then the rod slides inside the cymbal hole when you press the hi hat pedal without lifting the cymbal.

Anyone have similar problems and any solution?

Thanks

My Jobeky kit with 2box module arrives on Monday. I have had a quick play on a kit but not had a great amount of time with the module. I have downloaded the manual to my iPad and read it through a few times (before anyone yells "read the manual") and it seems quite complicated, particularly to navigate between functions (unit?). Are there any noob tips you can provide as experienced users - I want to shorten the learning curve if possible and not run into frustration and enjoy playing rather than looking up things in the manual. I am surprised nobody has written an idiots guide. To me, the manual is not that logical in the way it is set out.

Played a Td9 back to back with a 2box kit at Jobeky

Spent a little time at Jobeky on Friday as I was in the area for a Xmas do and arranged to pop in for a chat and play of their demo kits as I have ordered a kit from them with a 2box module and cymbals. Started on the 2box kit which felt very soft on the mesh pads, almost like hitting a pair of women's tights! The module sounds were good and varied with very few of the effects common in Roland modules. The hihat pad was a little "dead" to play ie. absorbent rather than springy to the hit so very little rebound.

Then played the Jobeky Stealth kit with a Roland TD9 module and Roland cymbals and VH11 hihat. The sounds from the Roland were good on some kits, perhaps the first few but very soon the kits were effects kits with sounds that would impress but would soon become tiresome and would not be used. Overall, there would be very few kits that I would use. The sounds are definitely more realistic on the 2box and I also liked the rim triggered sound loops which were very good. Again, may not use them after a while though.

Just to give some background - I am currently using a Jobeky mesh based classic kit with a Roland TD3 module and jobeky cymbals. I am upgrading to a 2box module and Jobeky Stealth kit - see their website:

The Jobeky kit looks just like a real acoustic it with full size drums, which play really well, in fact perfectly and have dual zone snare and toms. I have wanted a drum set since I was a kid and finally realised the dream when I reached 40 and was in a financial position to buy a kit and take advantage of the electronic kits that are now available. Having purchased a Jobeky kit a few years back I wanted to upgrade to a full size kit rather than the 8" pads I currently use and which are only about 4" deep. With Jobeky I can choose the wrap of my choice. It seems Roland are falling behind with their drums in not providing full size kits as an option, wraps which replicate the finishes available from acoustic drum manufacturers and real drum samples as provided by 2box. With Jobeky I can obtain the best of both worlds and play a full size it at reasonable sound levels.

Will post pictures when I have the kit and it is all set up. Still appreciate Roland, but there are other options out there.

Just ordered a new kit from Jobeky with a Bubinga wrap and 2box module and cymbals. This will replace my original Jobeky Classic kit, purchased about 5 years ago, shortly after Jobeky started. Can not wait to have an acoustic size electronic kit and experience the 2box sounds. Had debated replacing just my TD3 module with the 2box module but could not resist the Jobeky current offer, especially with the extra £100 off. It won't be here for Xmas but something to look forward to in the new year!
