Thanks for your insight, Welshsteve.  Yep, the open source architecture and amount of available storage pique my interest.  I'm a little dismayed that it seems I might be getting into the 2Box game a little late since they've ceased making hardware, but it's not terribly concerning.

I was also looking at the Pearl Mimic pro, but I've already got what it offers in the form of a computer with a lot of drum samplers/drum samples, so the price point for a closed system doesn't really make sense to me.

2Box has captivated me since I first thought about the Clavia engineers essentially moving forward with the Ddrum5 concept, and then some.

Your feedback certainly helps me believe that I'm heading in the right direction.

Hello 2Box users,

For anyone familiar with both the Drumit modules and the Ddrum4SE module, is the 2Box as fast with triggering as the Ddrum4SE, faster, slower, etc.?

I only ask because I am thinking of taking the plunge and grabbing a 2Box module, for the extra storage space alone, but I probably won't if it's only marginally better than a Ddrum4SE.

Any/all thoughts and opinions are both welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, it seems as though the Ddrum4SE compression algorithm is lost to posterity.  What a shame!

Fantastic!  While I don't mind the DD4SE hi-hat, it takes some finagling to get it to, for example, trigger Addictive Drums correctly.  I think the more modern offerings will be less problematic.

Now, if I could only completely figure out the compression scheme that Clavia used for the DD4/4SE samples, man it would really unlock the potential of that module! :)

That being said, I still fancy a Drumit 3 module in the future.

I should be ordering a conversion module by summer.  Are they a limited run?

Cheers for the blood, sweat & tears!

Thank you kindly for the information! :)

Very best,

I know this thread is old as hell, but I would definitely like to get the ddrum4Wav tool if anyone has it laying around.

Hi everyone,

Will the Drumit modules work with the Ddrum4/4SE pads?  I'm not sure if the hi-hat will work without a convertor box, but it is my hope that the cast precision pads work just fine.

Has anyone tried this/or is using this setup?

Hi All,

Not a current 2box user, but a longtime Ddrum user.  Stopping in to learn something.

Another option would be to record MIDI into separate channels and then trigger whatever acoustic samples you'd like.  It keeps the drum tracks raw and very flexible!  Just a thought.

Hi All,

As a massive Clavia Ddrum enthusiast, I thought I'd create a subreddit to help the community of enthusiasts keep the name alive.  Please check it out and add to it at:

Also, I am a fan of 2Box as well, so I'm not trying to compete but it was born out of Ddrum, so we must pay our dues!  ;D
