He even found one element was different in schematics (early controller version?).

Could you let us know what element is different and maybe even post pictures of the circuit board?

We also thought about trying out one which is more sensitive, I think it was A1391.

A1393 (5mV/G) and A1395 (10mV/G) are more sensitive than the A1392 (2.5mV/G). But why not just using a stronger magnet instead of changing the sensor for a bigger range between open and closed?

Thanks, much appreciated!

Ich würde direkt bei Hyperactive anfragen. Denke da sind die Chancen am größten Teile zu bekommen.

Es gibt extra eine Mail-Adresse für Ersatzteile:

There was also a sampling session in the studio with a Sonor SQ1:

Looks like we might get some new sounds  :patbat2box:

Hello,

there are also VSTi plugins available for Win 32bit and Win 64bit:

https://www.drumgizmo.org/wiki/doku.php?id=getting_drumgizmo

But i think to get good results there is some effort and skill required to get a good mix out of these multichannel recordings. Thats why i asked if anyone has already done that. I do not really have any experience in mixing or applying EQ, compression or whatever. Maybe someone has already done that?

Hello,

there is an open source drum plugin called DrumGizmo. And there are also multilayer samples of 5 drum kits available under the creative commons license.

https://www.drumgizmo.org/wiki/doku.php?id=kits

I wonder if anyone has already created DSND files for our 2Box modules out of that samples?

Hello,

since there seem to be a few people who have done the SD card mod at their DrumIt Three module i wonder if anyone could provide photos with high resolution of the electronic board. I'm interested to see was has changed in the hardware compared to my DrumIt Five. From the low res photos i saw there are still the footprints for the additional 2 outputs, the additional dials and knobs. So i wonder if it is even the same PCB inside both modules. But i doubt that since i guess they changed something at the trigger inputs.

Anyway, is there anybody who has some pictures with high resolution where you can see all the components? I'm interested to see both sides of the board.

Thanks and regards,

Manfred

Actually about the triggers he says that they will be available as a set of 4 stereo triggers for toms and snare and 1 kick trigger. But also single pieces will be available. They are dulled silver to keep them kind of stealthy. And the triggers are fixed to the rim only and do not touch the shell of the drum to avoid scratches.

About the drumit3 he just says that it is a reduced version of the drumit5 with less outputs and less buttons and dials. But it is the same sound engine and the 2Box editor also works with the drumit3. Sounds can be transferred to the drumit3 via USB just like to the drumit5.

Hi Beethoven,

great to see that somebody continues to make hihat controllers for all the DIY people. Especially for those in Europe because they don't have to pay turnover taxes on imports.

Maybe you can post some more details on the technical stuff. I guess its a same circuit as the original hihat and can be used with (almost) any 2-zone cymbal in combination with a magnet?

By the way , i own on of the first HHboard made by Manfred 3 or 4 years ago ... it still works like a charm (....thanx manfred  )

Hi edtc,

you're welcome! Nice to hear that you still use the board and that it still works fine!

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Re: pcy 135 as hihat...

Hi Bruno,

the hihat of most electronic drum kits consists of two functions:

1. Cymbal (with edge and bow detection)
2. Level detection for opening and closing hihat

You can use almost any 2 zone cymbal for the first function at the 2Box module. Also the PCY-135 with a slight modification. But the cymbal is only(!) for the first function. What you need additionally is the second function which means level detection for opened and closed. Without that it does not work at all. Thats why i wrote that you need another circuit board for it.

Hey,

some time ago i did some recording just for fun. I used the 6 outputs and MIDI simultaneously. If you don't have a multichannel soundcard you can also record MIDI only. Then you can either use SD on the computer or playback the Sound through the module again and recorfd channel per channel.

If you have just 2 inputs on your soundcard route snare and kick to separate outputs and playback the MIDI file through the module and record it. Then you route Tom1 and Tom2 to the outputs, playback the MIDI file again and so on and so on. Finally you got all components on separate tracks. Of course its more effort than just using SD directly.

Hi,

all around the cymbal there are these metal lugs which you can see in the first picture. They are used to choke the cymbal. When one of the lugs touches the lower plate the cymbal is choked.

Check if one of the lugs touches the lower plate permanently. If so, just bend it up a bit so that there is a gap between lug and plate.

Hello,

Sennheiser just released a free VSTi which includes Samples of a drum set. Haven't tested it but since the download is a 4.7GB file i guess it includes a lot of Samples. Unfortunately i couldn't find it on the English web page but here is the link to the german page:

http://de-de.sennheiser.com/service-support/drummica

On the left hand side you can click on "JETZT DOWNLOADEN>" which leads you to the download page. There you can find the downloads for Mac and Windows.

Would be nice to hear your opinion about the sounds.
